I don't know if I'd call any essence a panacea per se, but lav would have to be the closest as far as I can tell.... Oregano of a number of types would be second, but that's more specialized... -- W. I'll second that. It's soothing, antiseptic, refreshing,, uplifting and mildly antidepressant. I'd follow that with sandalwood, which is the gentlest EO I know. rosemary is incredibly useful too....stimulates circulation, memory, can help with migraines in some people..... then again you have myrrh as an all round safe antiseptic that you can even use in mouthwash...... And alos...ok, so all of them are bloody useful.....but lavender is one of the most versatile. For safe 'anti-bug' use a good Aussie Tea Tree is the great all- rounder for infections of almost any kind... for decontaminating dodgy bathroom & kitchen surfaces, clearing the air and ethers, inhaling for respiratory conditions, attending to fungi/yeasts, insect bites, cuts & scratches, etc etc I consider this pair of eoils mandatory for travellers. Guest guest
The citrus eo's-especially grapefruit-are really uplifting for me. Therapeutically, they revitalize my spirit and just make me feel better overall. I wear a glass vessel filled with grapefruit and bergamot, and I love when a bit of its scent comes my way as I move. Then again, maybe that would still be valerian for me. Just smelling it makes me think of relief. Maybe smelling it causes me to have some relief too... I'll have to try that with the fibro... Your list includes some great stuff! FYI: Rosemary has the property of raising blood pressure, so anyone who has high blood pressure should be sure to monitor their BP when using rosemary therapeutically. I don't think the amounts used in a well-balanced perfume blend should have any adverse effects, but when in doubt, monitor! ~Becky
