Definitely amber, the labdanum in particular. The first time I opened

a bottle of labdanum all I could think was that I wanted to crawl

inside it. One of my best perfumes has an amber base and a spicy top;

when I wear it it feels like the only appropriate fragrance I could

ever wear.

Orange water blossom absolute (it's absolutely ethreal) and amber for its rich,

deep scent.

Wow, thats hard. I'm so multifaceted and changeable(my Virgo) its hard

to pin it down to one. But if I had to pick just one I think it would

have to be vetiver. Or sandalwood.

Labdanum - before I ever encountered in perfumery, the scent of Rock

Rose was one of firm favourites. I always have at least one bush in my

garden. Then, Jasmine Sambac, Oudh, Cape May (to which I am addicted)

and Buchu which sends me into raptures. Then there is something called

Kukumakranka (Gethyllis afra) sadly now virtually impossible to find.

My father used to grow them. The fruit is a perfume in itself, and was

used to make Kukumakranka brandy which was also a remedy for colic and

indigestion. The fruit was also used to perfume rooms or linen. I

still have some of the fruits dried, but no success so far to find more.

Tough question. Oudh is likely tops followed by Mysore Sandalwood and

Cassia bark (tsk..tsk..)Labdanum is up there too. And when in a funky

mood Patchouli is a comforting scent. Must be the ol hippie in me?

we could soooooooooo hang together LOL!

A lot of the native american community LOVE patchouli blends or straight patch.

On a rare occassion I will get some sandalwood, not mysore tho....sigh.......and

then add my vanilla and make Pow Wow Special.....bar or liquid.....its a soap

and I do a scent as well......the dancers LOVE IT.............and I love

blending it.
