Guest guest
Hello to all! My name is and I am new to the idea of raw milk. I was raised in an urban setting where the grocery store was our food source. Although I was a city girl, I always had a yearning to go to rural areas and I loved to see animals, any kind of animal (except snakes and spiders). I wanted to grow up and be a veterinarian so I could be around and care for animals. Once I entered college I realized that dream was a bit out of my league since my grades in algebra were not good! I changed my degree program, graduated, went in the military, married, and now we have 2 girls! My husband’s family lives in Tennessee and that is where we call home. His family has lived on the same road for at least 125 years and when my husband retires from the military in 2012 we plan to move back to his family farm, build a house, and commence to farming. Right now, his parents have grass-fed, organic (although not intentional) cows and bulls which they keep as a hobby (his dad is retired military) and plan to keep up with that as well as add chickens, hogs, horses, etc… My In-Laws also grow their own fruits and vegetables and can/freeze to keep enough for the winter; we will continue this as well! I found my way to this site through rawmilk.com. Living in Colorado makes it a bit difficult to get raw milk but through the co-op or cost share program, it’s possible to obtain. I have health problems related to my military service and I believe that adding raw milk, cheese, etc… will only help in resolving these. I am currently in treatment for chronic Lyme Disease among other co-infections, hormonal issues, and a poorly functioning immune system. Having access to raw products and fermented products will only help in making my gut healthier and making my recovery faster and long term. My family already drinks store bought Kefir, supplements with probiotics, immune enhancers, vitamins, cod liver oil, X-Factor butter oil, and a few other things. We would love to get away from store bought products and consume fresh, whole products! I have been in contact with a local goat farmer and the Weston A. Price Foundation chapter here. I am looking forward to my first meeting with WAPF because a local cost share dairy will be their guest speaker. I look forward to being in touch with you here at this site and learning from your experience and wisdom! Thanks,
