Guest guest
Went to the clinic today to get peeked at, and learned something that really reassured me about my progress, and thought I'd share. I brought up that while I was happy that I was able to take longer walks every day, I was struggling with stairs. My doctor said 'You have trouble getting into cars too, I'll bet, and reaching up on shelves at times. He then turned to the intern with a smile, and said 'Now, can you explain to her why that is?' After a bit of discussion, he explained that it's the prednisone that's the issue... I can't remember the technical term for it, but it weakens certain areas or muscles in the body, and that it's very common for people on prednisone to have trouble with stairs or reaching over their heads. He expects as we wean me off the prednisone, I'll regain my stair-climbing abilities. Phew. So if any of you are weak on stairs and on prednisone, this may be good news for you too. Also, another side note... the eye drops I'm taking to lower the pressure in my eyes are affecting my heart rate and causing palpitations. While at first they were thinking Stills and fluid around the heart again, it's simply a side effect. I just mentioned it to them saying 'Ironically, the heart issues started when...' and my doctor looked up the drops' side effects. I guess it helps to even mention suspicions at times, doesn't it? Anyway, take care, be well, and we're all weird aren't we? lol
