Guest guest
My name is Lee. My email addy is mnavywife9@.... We live in Gates, North Carolina, Good Ol' USA. I guess I plan to be or am all three. When my doe gives birth, I will try the milk. I haven't gotten to try it yet. Goats milk that is. So that sorta makes me a wanna-be consumer too. And I guess we're sorta farmers. We only have just under two acres, but have it crammed full of poultry, dogs, kids (people type) and now three goats and a lamb (as of last weekend!). We also have a large garden every year. To the best of my knowledge, no, you can not sell raw milk in North Carolina. I "think" my husband could take our milk to VA with him to work and be able to sell the milk from there. I'm not sure on that yet and will have to look it up. As far as how I found out about it raw milk.. Well, I guess I always knew about it. I've just never been in a position to actually give it a try before. I would LOVE to be able to have a dairy cow as well, but maybe in time. We'll see. I'm trying to start small. I know it's not the 'same', but I did take the time and care to NOT bottle feed each and every one of my kids so they'd have the best start in life and I can't see why not to continue on that from another critter if I can! We do grow our poultry to consume the eggs and the birds themselves, as well as a few ducks, turkeys and pheasants. We're trying to feed our family as healthy as possible. We're also planning on growing out our own steers when we can find a couple we can afford for beef.
