Guest guest
Welcome Eitan- You will find alot of good info and support here. I know how you feel about having a Rheumy that is not an expert (AT ALL) with Stills. In my area I haven't yet to find a Rheumy that knows alot about Stills. I have to stay within a certain list of physicians due to my insurance so I basically am giving them their education, hands on. My situation is very similar to yours where my Rheumy is at a stand still and just maintaining my disease. Not really trying new drugs, etc. But you have to speak up and tell your doc that you want to try this new drug, what does he/she think, and if you think that a drug isn't working the way you would like, you need to say something. You know your body and you need to take charge. Because as you know you probably know more about Stills then your Rheumy. Anyway I am glad that you found us and I hope to hear from you soon. I hope that you are having a painfree day. Love and Support, Keri in CA Introduction + Searching for a Stills specialist in Israel Hi All, I'm new to the forum and haven't posted yet. My Name is Eitan and I'm living in Israel. I'll shortly introduce myself and my aspects of the disease. I was diagnosed with Stills in 1998 as a result of high fever (FUO) and a broad set of examinations including several bone marrow biopsies from the chest bone (aspiration) and from my hip, where they couldn't state clearly that the fever was due to lymphoma cancer. I have been in dual tracking with Rheumatology (for Stills) and Hematology. As years passed by, all got to the conclusion that the most reasonable assumption is that I have stills. As per my day to day experience, I suffer from high fever attacks from time to time, where my ESR, CRP increases, my HGB and PLTs goes down and I'm either with high fever or treated with Cortisones (prednisone) and I'm functioning perfectly with that. Beside that, I'm in a perfect condition, living my life as if I have nothing. My last ataack was about a year and a half ago, I started taking cortisones (starting with 40 mg and going down very gradually). When I almost got to stop them I got another attack and had to restart the cortisone sessions, Currently I on 10 mg of cortisone, and about to reduce the disong. I'm treated with the same rheumatologist for the last 10 years, and I'm looking to freshen my medical care to get some new winds into my tracking. Does anyone know a stills expert in Israel? I haven't managed to find someone yet, beside my rheumatologist , who knows the disease, but is no expert Many thnks, Eitan ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ You rock.
