Retaining walls

Hi all! I have not posted in a few days but I need a little advice.

After months of looking I may have found a house. The only problem is

the drainage situation. There is a retaining wall about two feet out

from the back of the house (ie brick house, 2 feet of grass, 3 foot

high retaining wall) and a deck about 3 feet above ground sits atop

three quarters of the running retaining wall footage I think this could

be a problem. I think the retaining wall is bad news and deck sitting

on top of it is probably not good. Any thoughts? I have never seen a

situation like that before. The house has an offer and I have to decide

quickly. Thanks to all, Jane Ann
