Guest guest
Dora, There are many possibilities. You could breed your goat in February so that she would kid in August, at the end of vacation. Most dairy goat people don't milk their goats the last 2 months of pregnancy to give the girl a break. Also someone might be willing to keep the goat in exchange for whatever milk they can get during that time period if you choose to breed earlier. You may or may not have to provide the feed during that time. Also just an FYI goats do best when in company of another, not alone. Also Storey's guide IS a great book to start with. You can usually get a decent goat for less than $200.00 maybe even less than $100.00 depending on where you are and what age etc. Time of year also plays a big part. Lucinda in PA I just have to convince my dh that our long > summer vacations are not really productive (ps teacher + RV = not a > farmer. Unless we could board our goat??? Lots to think about. > > Dora
