Guest guest
I also use a double boiler to make my soap. When you put your soap in the DB how are you doing your cook. Do you let the soap go through all of the stages? I would have thought that DB would be way to hot for a milk soap. Would you be interested in a soap swap. I will send you one of my in exchange for one of yours. I am really interested in how you do your process. Chris I use frozen milk.Mix the milk with the lye before hand.I use a double boiler.I don't really like the thermostats on slow cookers.Hi and Lo don't seem to be that acurate. Re: Making soap The only way to use goats milk in soap is to do cold process. Google cold process soap and you will come up with a lot of information. Temp. is very important in cold process because if you get the goats milk to hot it will caramelize the sugars in the milk and give off an ammonia smell. It will also turn the soap brown. If you get a recipe and what to know what the soap will feel like you can send me the recipe and I can give you an amino acids breakdown. I don't make milk soaps anymore because I don't like to do cold process soap. I do double boiler hot process. It is a lot less work and I don't have to watch the temps. I would be glad to help anyone who needs soap information. Chris Anybody on this list make soap out of goat milk? Could you share your info with me? What is easiest way to do this for the first time? Guest guest
Vicki, how do you find the hot process goat milk soaps compared to cold process? Are they a lot darker, different texture, etc.? Thanks, Tammy K.
