Guest guest
Greetings Dragon Slayers It's little 'ol me again! The last while has seen many new people signing up for the mailing list. I am always torn.....are they diagnosing it sooner, are more people acquiring the disease......was it always this prevalent, and Doctors were mis-diagnosing SD? In my heart I wish that there were no members, no Stills Disease Foundation...that SD was erradicated, and everyone was well. My brain ( what there is left of it) knows better. So, I'm glad that you've found us...but sorry that you had to look! SD is a very insidious disease. The only commonalities, it seems is it's dissimilarities yet so many similarities!. Yes there are symptoms that match, but each person, has a very personal and unique set of those symptoms. What works for one, may not work for another. I expect that the " newbies " will be researching the International site, but PLEASE remember that the member histories are " their " his/her stories and you may never get to the stages many of us arrived at. Remember, years ago, there weren't as many drugs for SD. I remember getting SO excited when they were TESTING Enbrel!!! Now it's an " old " drug, with Humira and Remicade etc upping the ante! So don't let other people's experiences colour yours! Fear and stress are tools of the Dragon.... Of course getting a DX of SD is pretty scary, but you have to keep your wits about you. The Dragon is a formidable adversary. Now you see him, now you don't. He can hit you like a ton of bricks, and then go underground. Or he sneaks up looking like something else, and when you least expect him BANG there he is in all his rotten glory! Everyone is so different. Yet so much alike! Some people who have had SD for some time, may be very angry at what this disease has done to their lives, and will blame many things for their quality of life ( or lack thereof) Anger and stress are " killers " and should be avoided as much as possible. Sometimes stress follows us onto the mailing list, and the International site. Just be aware that some of us are more aggressive in our verbage than others. Remember that you as a member of the SD support group, have a responsibility to your fellow members, to be open and supportive and caring. Even to those who we perceive as terribly negative. We have stumbled our way through this since 2001, and have had great successes with our amazing members. I'm sure that there are among us, people who would have the list change, by creating an environment of anger and confusion. Please don't allow them to change the spirit of the people involved! Remember, there IS a delete key, and I would suggest that you all use it where the " doctor " is concerned!!!! Oh, and his friend ( amazing he has any) Roy! Oh, and remember that neither one of them hails from the North American continent any longer! Guest guest
Cat, you have me pissing in my pants at the moment......you remind me of my Grandmother...she was to the point just like you. All I can say to you Dave is " Ditto " . I never had to fight in a war (fortunately) but did serve. I get easily angered when I see or hear of anyone pissing all over OUR country. I don't piss on theirs, don't piss on mine! Adios, Kirk -- Everything in life sucks except things that should!
