Guest guest
Greetings Brett, Thank you for responding to my opening email. I'm glad to hear that your experiences with the U.S. Medical system have apparently been so amicable and salubrious that 's film " Sieko " elicits nothing more than a mention of his so-called " distorted liberal views " . Apparently there are still many in the States who feel that those who suffer god awful diseases and pain somehow must have some personality flaw that makes them deserving of such punishment (Social Darwinism with a bit of an overtone of religious righteousness liberally added). You may be one of those few fortunate ones who found a doctor who recognized your SD before going through the personal years of medical hell that I and others have had to endure. Fact is about 45 million Americans including many driven right out of their former middle class status by the crisis level costs of the American medical system. Many of these have little more medical care availability other than the anonymous, wait-in-line Emergency Room care--sometimes dozens of miles from their home. Our local Dutch newspapers have sent reporters to the U.S. to follow up on 's filming and have come back declaring U.S. medical care for the un- or partially insured to be on par with some third world countries. As far as the $3 Trillion War Conflict item goes, I would have thought that ph E. Stiglitz and J. Bilmes was a fairly well known item by now not requiring a specific footnote. For more detail take a look at the 'Subject' website. I haven't read the book. I have only heard about it from its mention and reviews on TV. Amazon lists several reviewers who have read the book and offered their personal assessments on same. And as for Bill Clinton, there was one of the hardest working and best economic minds of a presidents that we have ever had. In contrast may I remind you that W. declared on CNN at the beginning of August 2001 that he thought it best for the President to take the month of August, 2001 off each year at his Crawford, Texas Ranch. The only thing we heard from 'W' was that he had choked on some cracker jacks while watching basketball on TV and was hospitalized for not being able to coordinate the amount of food he was trying to stuff down his mouth and his ability to swallow such a large amount at the same time. Reminds me of the 'walking and chewing gum at the same time' quip. While was watching TV. Counter-intelligence director, was trying to warn Bush on an impending attack by plane on NYC and Washington, D.C. Condie Rice didn't think it important enough to upset with such reports while he was trying to recover from his bout of CrackerJackitis. Brett, let's compare notes in 5 or 10 years and see what you then think of the U.S. Medical system. By then the way the Bush Administration has put America on the brink of bankrupting our country through lack of financial dissappline and regulation, perhaps doctors will be happy to once again, like their grandfathers, be satisfied with the payment of one live chicken and a dozen eggs for their medical services.
