Guest guest
Hi, and welcome, I applaud your efforts to obtain unbiased information about implants before you get them. For many of us, this information came too late to save us from suffering. Since adequate studies have never really been done on the sick women, and no registsry has ever been kept of women who have been implanted, I don't believe valid and accurate statistics about the true nature or extent of the illnesses we experience are available. All we do know for sure is that women have been cropping up with mysterious diseases and symptoms after getting implants for decades now, and there has been alot of backpedalling, denial, political manuevering, and other efforts to justify keeping breast implants available to women while poo-pooing what is really happening. There have been some studies that do show positively that there are statistically signficant things happening to women and others who are getting silicone implants of any variety, (fibromyalgia, cancers, some autoimmune diseases) and these studies are available in our files section, as well as on Dr. Zuckerman's informative website, www.breastimplantinfo.org. You might want to do some research there. Best wishes to you.. Guest guest
There are no firm statistics that I am aware of. Manufacturers are the main ones paying for so called " studies " and those are slanted to make the outcome more favorable. I wish there were some true statistics, but even so, that still would not help you predict if YOU would get sick. For instance, statistics show that about 10% of women have a miscarriage. That means 90%don't. Pretty good odds, but I had two. Odds are odds, nothing more. These odds can't take in consideration your immune system, genetics or anything else peculiar to just you. And you can't either because none of us has the luxury of knowing how our body will react to something before being exposed. I think you are better off looking at the seriousness of the consequences. For instance, if studies show that 10% of women willexperience a rupture of the implant within 10 years (I am making this for an example..I dont know the true odds on this) but the only downside to this would be having to have another surgery, then you might consider it is still worth the risk. You think 10 years of pleasure is worth a repeat surgery and cost. You can accept the consequences. But now look at what you are more interested in. Lets say that 10% (and I am sure it is higher) of women getting saline implants will get an autoimmune disease. These are NOT generally curable, will destroy the quality of your life and those who love you, and may eventually be a factor in your death. This risk is unacceptable. Who would knowingly trade their health and happiness for bigger breasts? Have you checked how many women are on this site? Obviously it isn't rare that women get sick from these implants. And I am sure there are many many women sick from implants that don't have a clue that their implants are the cause. So the true numbers will never be known. I can only say that since the risks are so high, and the chance of getting sick is higher than " rare " I would not take the chance. If you lose, you lose big. Each person on this site lost alot more than they would have ever bargained for. I hope this helps some. Good luck kathy --- In , " morgan2706 " <morgan2706@y...> wrote: > > hi im new to this group, i really want to get breast implants i have > wanted them for a long time i was just wondering what the statistics > where for these problems that you talk about. please help

Guest guest
Hi there, It sure sounds like your symptoms are consistent with what we have experienced after having breast implants. In fact, the going from doctor to doctor without any answers is also a sign! Nobody ever seems to be able to figure out what is wrong with us. That is because silicone and breast implant associated illnesses are neglected and ignored! So, where do you go from here.....I found that going to naturopathic doctors and using all natural methods for healing worked for me!!! It just took a very long time. 4 years total to get better, and I got sick from my saline implants in about 9 months. What I did first was read some books about detoxing. I started with Dr. Weil's " 8 Weeks to Optimum Health " and moved forward from there. There are tons of detoxing websites and books out there to help you, though I know it can be quite confusing. So, you just take it one day at a time, one step at a time, and choose some therapies that you are comfortable doing. You can do detoxing at home, but if you are not sure of how to go about it, you can get with assistance at a clinic. You are in complete control of how much money you need or want to spend, so keep that in mind, as there are some very expensive detoxing clinics out there. I have done the following therapies at home: I started with diet. Elimination of junk foods, processed foods, fake sugars, hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils, soda pop, processed milk (I use raw milk now), and all vegetable oils in clear bottles, beef from the store (I use only wild game, bison, or safe fish which is deep ocean fish.) Basically a clean diet focused on organic fruits, vegetables, and clean meats. Fasting, both water only and juice fasting, between 3 and 14 days. Liver/gallbladder flushes Kidney flush Parasite cleanse Chelation therapy, using Captomer Infrared sauna therapy (I bought an infrared sauna, a good investment) Jump rope to get the lymph moving, or walking or rebounding on a mini-trampoline Coffee enemas (this one was a huge help to me. I still do them.)....Gerson Therapy Supplements: too many to name, but herbs for helping with reducing the viral, bacterial and fungal loads (raw garlic, oil of oregano, caprylic acid, cayenne, grapefruit seed extract), hormones to help support the endocrine system (thyroid, adrenal, DHEA, pregnenolone, progesterone), vitamins to ensure I was getting all I needed, (especially Vitamin B12 and B vitamins, minerals are important too, especially magnesium.) Essential fatty acids are anti-inflammatory--this is important! Omega 3 oils reduce inflammation, so using flax seed oil, fish oil, and evening primrose oil are big. You can find a list of Detoxing ideas in our FAQ section. This is a comprehensive list of ideas from Trudeau's book " Natural Cures They Don't Want you to Know About. " I've considered myself cured for about 7-8 years now. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's autoimmune thyroid disease in 2002, but my last test showed no antibodies. I have no symptoms that prevent me from living life fully. I did it with little doctor assistance, and mostly natural therapies at home. If I can do it, anyone can! It just takes a little research, a little money, and alot of motivation, all of which I had. Oh, and I had alot of faith. I knew my God could heal me, and I trusted Him to do it. But I helped myself as much as I could. Patty > > I need help! I had breast augumentation surgery about 3 years ago. Since then, I have had several health issues. After going from doctor to doctor without any luck, I stumbled upon this website. I am sure these symptoms must be related to my implants. Here is a list of some of my concerns: > loss of memory - brain fog > dizziness > excessive heat from my body > fatigue > shortness of breath > loss of libido > dry mouth > dry eyes > dry vagina > heart palpitations > my nipples are hard all the time > > I do not know what to do. I am so sick of going to doctors who all say it has nothing to do with my implants, but can't cure me. Where do I go from here? >
