Anyone in north

Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom or Island counties

of WA state:

We have found a

source for some grain!! Yea! (But we are still looking for more!!)

Dave, from The Feed Barn is totally willing to grow non-certified organic,

non-GMO grains for us!!

He needs to know what

grains and a rough estimate of how much one will need to feed the animals for 1

year. He will grow and bag the grains for us, we will have to do our own mixing

(there are several people who know how to do that and can give classes, but

that’s later!)

I have started an Excel

file for getting the amounts together, but what I need from each person is for

you to gather your feed and figure out each grain in there and what you will

need. For example:

My recipe for goat

feed is:

whole barley

whole oats

whole chicken wheat

cracked corn

BOSS – black oil

sunflower seeds

Linseed meal

Kelp

Dolomite

Goat minerals

Salt

Alfalfa pellets

Yeast

The first 5 Dave can

grow and bag, the rest I can look for a reliable source for. To make 3 months

of feed for my goats, I need one 50 lb bag of each.

I will look at my pig

and chicken feed as well to see what else I need. Check out Harvey Ussey’s

site for chicken feed help - http://www.themodernhomestead.us/

So, get together your

needs and email them as soon as you can! He needs to get the seeds in the

ground for harvest this fall!
