Guest guest
Yes, Anita, that is correct about the ghost cells! (among other horrible things with Pork and Dr. Mercola does have a few articles on the subject). Here is a snippet from a website about detoxing: http://www.positivehealth.com/permit/Articles/Dentist/drage44.htm There are a few other things to be avoided at this time if at all possible. The obvious ones are the ‘terrible trio’, sugar, caffeine and alcohol. Caffeine seems to be the worst offender for ‘detoxers’ by some margin, but as always, we advise moderation and common sense. We don’t want to make life intolerable, just take it easy on these substances for a while. Pork is surprisingly unhelpful in detox procedures. When blood samples were taken from people thirty minutes after eating pork, ‘ghost’ cells were evident. These are red blood cells which have lost their haemoglobin, and the result is a feeling of fatigue. The spleen works overtime to pump out more red blood cells so that the tiredness doesn’t last long, but overproduction of red blood cells may strain the system. Anita Re: Kathy, gluten, ice cream, and pork Kathy, My homemade ice cream doesn't have flour in it! We made some ice cream this summer using raw cream and raw milk, sucanat, organic eggs, and real vanilla extract. It was the best ice cream we've ever tasted! My kids loved it! I hope you are having success with your gluten free diet... I know it must be hard to follow. Hey, about that pork chop though...that would scare me more than the gluten! (We eat absolutely no pork in our house!) If you are interested in why, just ask....I'd be glad to share all the stuff I've read about why pork is "unclean" food. Scary stuff....
