Not just sensativity training, but how about a dose of anti stupidity

antibody?

Not only was this nurse way off the mark when it comes to Stills, she

has no obvious understanding of RA either. RA does, in many cases have

some systemic effects and in moderate to severe cases the joint pain

can be major. In several past lifes, Cheryl (my wife) worked on a

rehab floor in a hospital and one subset of patients were RA. I worked

in the lab and performed phlebotomy on them. I also have opportunities

to talk to our RA cousins during Remicade infusions. RA and Stills

should never be compared to something like a sprained ankle or a head

cold. There are always varying degrees of involement in both

condiditons and to make such a statement as this nurse did, is sinful.

On second thought, a taser might have been a better immediate reponse

to such a stupid, ill timed and thoughtless comment. I would have

contacted a supervisor and had a show down and demanded an appology.

One of the other nurses should have shut this person down. The

typical " sheep " mentality.
