Guest guest
Hi ! The crazy thing is that breast implants have not been studied for a long period of time. It's really crazy when they've been around for 30-35 years...we SHOULD have studies that date back that long! But the truth is, we DON'T. But let's focus on a few things that we do know. The studies that are out now have studied women with implants for a few months to a few years. It falls very short of long-term data needed (as people get breast implants FOR LIFE...not for a few months or years!). Also, these studies do NOT study systemic complications (which are major illnesses, weird symptoms, and diseases)...they only study " local " complications...which are problems you would have around the breast implant area. All breast implants, saline included, have a silicone shell or encasement. A breast implant is a foreign object...and just as your body rejects a splinter in your finger, so could your body reject an implant. Before you seriously consider getting breast implants, please read the breast implant manufacturer's consent form. There are examples of them on the Internet...maybe even on this site. Read everything! And just think...they don't want to write negative things, they do it BECAUSE people have actually experienced them and they HAVE TO. And also read the FDA's 80 page handbook on breast implants. Remember, not everyone gets sick from implants....but it's a huge risk you're taking, especially since NO ONE KNOWS (has research) on what can happen to you! Also, many women do not get sick from implants for 7-10 years...however, I've been noticing MANY women who are getting sicker much quicker! You have a life to live...you don't have time for illness. I wish there were completely safe implants on the market...and then there would be no need for this group. For now, we just have to try and help the women that come to us for support. Thank GOD that you found this group BEFORE getting breast implants. I found this 2 years too late. I'm now 22 and disabled due to my saline breast implants. I do everything I can to help women like yourself...I think you are very blessed to have a second chance at choosing life. I would do anything to be pain-free, disease free again. Best wishes!
