Hey there Joan:

You know, I haven't heard much about Humira and of course, I haven't

any experience with it but I'm wondering if it's the right medication

for you. From what you're discribing it doesn't sound quite right

and perhaps you should talk with the doctor about it.

By the way, I don't want you to get the wrong idea. I don't

like " adjusting " my medication myself, not even a little bit but I'm

too busy to endure all this pain I've been having - and no, there's

little to no time to rest. I see my RD on Wednesday. Actually, I'm

seeing the nurse practioner Wednesday - oh, joy of joys.

I have to tell you I understand how you feel about raising the

prednisonolone or whatever it is your taking; and the fact the doctor

wants you to have more than you'd like, but did you ever ask " why? "

she wanted you to have so much? I was just thinking about it, I hope

you don't mind my asking.

I woke up by the way, because one of my dogs was sleeping across my

feet and covering them up. I became to warm and actually attempted

to move my feet from under her and couldn't. When I was finally able

to get Lucy to move I was so frustrated I came downstairs and here I

am. I'm not sure I'll be able to get upstairs though, I supposed

we'll find out soon enough.

Take care and be well.

Ellen

Hi Ellen, Why do docs do that to us... the Nurse practitioner? I am so

glad that this RD doesn't have one. Before, he had one and sometimes I'd

see her (1 time) and he disagreed with everything she did, so why bother if

you are not going to agree?

Even the GP's are doing that now. I guess it's to save money in a screwed

up medical system, but they don't know my illness or needs like the doctor

does and I feel as though they never will. It's so frustrating for me

sometimes. I wish I never had to see a nurse practitioner, no matter how

nice they are. I just feel like it sets me up for multiple apts.

Does anyone else ever feel that way?

Oh well... good luck with your apt. Ellen,

Thanks ,

You're right, by the way, the nurse practioner is very nice, very

sweet, very uninformed about Stills. Everything I've told her she's

had to go back to the doctor and get advice from him - so why don't

they just give me him.

My GP also has one and it brings in more money believe it or not.

Doctors are so busy as it is that they've discovered if they bring in

a nurse practioner they can double up on patients and make more. I'm

sorry, but money is the name of the game and most people want it and

will find anyway they can to get it.

I'll let you know what happens. By the way, good question, I wonder

if anyone else feels the same about nurse practioners?

Take care and be well.

Hi Ellen

I feel that my medication is not quite right at the moment, but I have an

appointment with my Rheumy tomorrow and I just hope I get one that I can

talk to and he can answer a few of my queries. I think my doctor just asks

me what dosage of pred. I am taking and puts it up a bit - not very

satisfactory I know but you can't get in touch with the hospital direct, it

has to be through the doctor.

I have just got back from seeing my Rhuemy and the good news is that before

I started taking Humira my inflammation level was 20 and it has now come

down to 5 which they are very pleased with. I am going to have some more

tests done on my muscles as they ache so much all the time, they think I may

have a virus. Anyway it is nice to have some good results for once.

Hope you managed to get back upstairs OK

Also hope your appointment with the nurse practitioner goes well.

Best wishes

Joan U.K.

Joan honey that's great news! Congratulations darling! what about the

prednisone? Did they lower it?

I'm going to ask, by the way for an MRI of my back. Nothing seems to

be helping it; no medication touches it, no amount of chiropractic care

nor massage therapy seems to be helping. I can't figure out why and no

one else seems to have an answer either. Thus, let's get an MRI and

see what's happening!

Again, congrats! Take care and be well.

Hi I am in UK too and on Humira.Glad you got positive results- i havent

managed to get off the pred completely either- down to 8 mg a day now

so slowly chipping awayat it.have had an unbroken run on Humira for 18

months now without needing to stop and am feeling the benefit.

Do you take it every 2 weeks?
