Guest guest
Darv, Beware I have had this happen 3 times just like you! The dragon is sneaky and sly. I hope that its over but im willing to bet its not. I am like you ups and downs with my stills I went a whole week pain free and back to myself off all drugs. I was so happy and was like yes its over. Then out of the blue my hands started to swell and the hip started and back into it again this time worse then ever. Just to let you know your not the only one it does this too if you do truely have stills. And im 25 sed right now its not bad at all but not good so the dragon is hidding out Im willing to bet. Email me anytime i know your not nuts. Ann Fultz Strange illness. Three weeks ago they had put me on a fentanyl patch and my pain was gone. By the end of the week I was feeling okay so I took a little trip to see may ailing grandmother. Then I got real sick, came home early to see my doc. Massive swelling in my feet, ankles an wrist, rash, mouth sores, even the hoarse voice someone else recently mentioned. I get home, and by the time I see my doc am feeling much better. She gives me the " I don't know that you have still's bit " orders a bunch of tests. By the time I take the test, I feel great. I've since ripped off the patch and even cut my Norco to nearly nothing only taking some to wean myself off. Stopped all the NSAIDS and other rheumy drugs. I feel fantastic compared to just a few weeks ago. My sed rate came back at only 24. All other tests were normal. How can I go from so bad to so good so fast? Don't get me wrong, I will take it. I am happy to report that feel so much better. I just bet my doctors think I am a royal nut case! It is really strange and I don't know if others have such sudden and dramatic swings in how they feel? Regards, Darv

Guest guest
Thanks guys, Yes, I know it can come and go. I am just shocked at how wide a swing I can go though in just a week or two. From feeling like I am near death to normal. Yeah, my sed rate is at 25. The lowest it has ever been since this whole thing started was 17. The one unique thing is this is the first time I have been fairly pain free. It seems even when I am not flaring, I still have joint and muscle pain to some degree. But for the moment, even that is minor compared to how it has been. I will enjoy it will it lasts and hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I think I need to change rheumatologist while I am at it. Something more local and perhaps the doctor that first diagnosed it would be good. I just didn't want to believe him back then. Thanks Darv
Guest guest
Darv, once in a blue moon that happens to me. I wake up with absolutely NO pain anywhere, feeling like my old self. I usually shout " eureka, I'm cured! " then spend the day doing all the things I couldn't do the day before. Unfortunately, in my case, the persistent dragon comes back in a day or two and my euphoria is short-lived. HOWEVER... I'm always hopeful! Everything in the Still's literature says that AOSD onset is split in thirds--in one third, the disease resolves itself and never comes back; in another third, the disease becomes intermittent, with remissions that may last years; in another third, the disease becomes chronic. That's one of the reasons Still's is so hard to treat, I think, especially if you wind up with intermittent flairs. How can you know whether meds are working or whether you're in a natural (non medical) flair? /Maine > > Thanks guys, > > > > Yes, I know it can come and go.
