Hi piper

I have heard alot of good things about dr. melmed. I think he will

do a good job for you. since you have had them only 10 months, I

imagine you will look pretty similar to the way you looked before.

I had mine eleven years and was very small--double A padded. I look

pretty much the way I did before except my skin had stretched some

in that time. I can't imagine that being an issue with the small

amount of time you have had them in and also your young age. I

don't think you should worry about looking deformed. I think you

will be fairly pleased with the results. Also, since you are only

twenty one, you may get bigger as you age. Many women do. Good

luck on your surgery. We will be thinking of you.

Hi Piper-

I hope it gives you comfort to know that even we who had mastectomies grow a small amount of breast tissue back -- and we only have our skin left after our mastectomies (the breast tissue is scraped away to leave nothing but the skin). Every time you get pregnant (even if you miscarry) makes your breasts grow more tissue. So since you are VERY UNLIKELY to be deformed to begin with, you will only grow more tissue as you have babies and as you age and gain a bit of weigh -- as most of us do with all those birthdays, parties with friends and holidays to celebrate.

I also want to share a joke with you about pre-surgical jitters -- when my name was called the morning of my mastectomy I wanted so much to just leave that I pushed mly mother forward and said "Here she is". I believe that you will be just fine in a few days and that you will soon be posting how relieved you are that your explant is over and how happy you are with your results. You are coming to beautiful weather here in Texas and will leave with a beautiful and soon to be healthy body!

Remember to hug your lion.

I just wanted to tell you what a wonderful and thoughtful reply that

was! I just love the way we are so supporting of each other. Also

you brought a smile to my face with your joke about your mother!

where in texas do you live? The reason I ask is that my son lives

in dallas and I visit him a couple of times a year. I met another

lady from this site that lives in dallas, while visiting him this

past summer.

Dear Kathy --

I am often a bit naughty and joke a lot -- even more so when I am upset (to lighten my mood when things seem dark and scary -- it seems to help break up my tense moments).

I live in Plano -- northeast of Dallas.

Thanks for your compliments -- I feel very strongly that we are the best shoulders for each other (just as we all have the best helping hand we will ever find at the end of our own elbows -- we just all get scared and forget that some days -- me included)!

Hi Piper,

Sorry I haven't had a chance to reply to you. I have been away from my computer for a while. First of all, I am so glad you are doing explant with Dr. Melmed. Many women have gone to him and I have heard wonderful results. Second, I want to reassure you that you will NOT be deformed. I think that the worst scenario is that you will get back to what you used to be. I had my silicone implants for 20 years and got explanted about six months ago. I also was very terrified about being deformed after so many years with implants and breastfeeding two babies. I am a small AA cup which is pretty much what I used to be before implants. I am not very savvy with computers, therefore, I don't know how to send you pictures. I could mail a copy to you, but I am afraid that since your surgery is on Tuesday, it is now too late. I really don't think you will be deformed at all. Your implants have only been in for 10 months to

really make a difference. Sure your skin has stretched out, but because you are very young, and skin has a lot of elasticity, your skin will most likely shrink back. Just think that skin is like a rubberband. Stretch and goes back. Just like when a woman is pregnant, all that skin stretches out to fit the baby in, and after the birth, skin goes back. I am confident that you will be just fine. Please don't stress yourself so much with these thoughts. Thinking about the surgery and preparing for it is stressful enough. Just be grateful that God has provided and made it possible for you to go to a very skillful and experienced surgeon. You couldn't be in better hands! Take care of yourself, get plenty of rest and eat well. I am praying for you.
