I went to my GP yesterday. I go to a university based office so I see

a resident first and then my GP second. This was a new resident I

hadn't seen before and we were going over my illnesses and then he was

asking how I was feeling lately. The first thing he asked was have you

had any rashes. I smiled at him and said, they teach you Stills

Disease in med school? Enough that you actually remember it? He said

yup, sure do. I told him that made me very happy.

The second amazing thing that happened with him is he didn't say one

word about my weight. With new docs, esp young ones who haven't seen

many complicated cases yet, my weight is always a topic of

conversation. Didn't mention a word, which means he must be learning

something in med school about people with inflammation problems having

weight issues. WAHOOOOOOOO!

Just made me happy. Makes me even more happy that it's my college alma

mater who is training these guys!!

, that's astounding! All of it! My GP, who hasn't been

practicing all that long isn't that wise to the inflammatory illnesses

and asks me constantly if I'm going to do anything about the weight. I

often say to him, " why? Do I look heavy to you? " That's when he rolls

his eyes and walks away.

I'm stunned, though. Pleasantly surprised, but stunned. They teach

this stuff in college now? Have we become that big of a deal?

Take care and be well.
