Guest guest
Hello, I've been out of town and apologize if I go over something that was already talked about...I get at least 200 emails a day, I just can't read through all of them when my internet access is restricted. My family practitioner did some investigating for me. One of the other doctors at out clinic has celiac and told my Dr. that there is a genetic test that can be done. In our area the test runs about $500 and isn't covered by my insurance (but may be covered by others?). I am probably going to put back for the test. Until then I'm trying to stay gluten free (not an easy task) and I am going to talk to the ex, doctors, and the school about putting Sara on a gf diet for a while... Also, if we do find that we have celiac, and can't use the federal reduced cost lunch program because they won't provide GF food, isn't that discrimination based on an illness? thanks, linda
Guest guest
The genetic test only tells that the person is susceptible to developing it, not that they have celiac simply from having the gene. I don't know about the school lunch thing, I don't know that they ever make, say, diabetic accommodations or anything like that.
