Thank you Patty:

Breast implants with this foam covering should be banned. I'm so angry because 's site seems to be promoting breast implants, this is disgusting. How can they get away with this, they will be destroying more lives. She may not be sick yet, but she will be and then who will she turn to?

My has a favourite cousin who has a saline breast implant and we have watched her change from a vibrant lady into a cripple. She claims that the implant did not make her sick. Dr. Blais has told us that she is on the fourth floor of a building...going down. We love her so much, but we are helpless.

I really feel like giving up, but I won't...love you...Lea

Re: Re: Sisters...Experiencing health problems

Lea,

I don't want you to be confused about the textured implants that we may be discussing.

The kind that I had did not have a foam covering--those were another kind of implants that were marketed, purportedly to avoid capsular contracture as well, but they preceded the textured saline implants that women are getting today, and they were much, much more lethal. The foam covering disintegrated in women's bodies into carcinogenic and toxic substances. It was the same foam that they used in car upholstery, if you can imagine that.

The textured implants they are using today have silicone shells that have been textured...at a very small detailed level, you would see little hills and valleys of silicone "bumps". The purpose, supposedly, was to keep the scar tissue from tightening around the implant and squeezing it, which was what was happening with smooth shelled implants. Of course, their theory didn't work in real life....(as usual) and women still got capsular contracture with textured implants. Furthermore, the textured surface gave rise to the opportunity of macrophages to gnaw off these silicone particles much more easily, allowing silicone to be transported to various parts of the body.

Always promises of a better product, always failure.....it never ends.

Polyurethane is in the foam. There are also many toxic metals and chemicals in the silicone shell.LyndaAt 09:01 AM 11/10/2004, you wrote:> Dear Lynda:>> Love your work.
