hi there

I have always been pretty small - 105 when I was married 6 years ago. Now I have stayed around 120 after having my son 3 years ago - the implants were put in in 1996 and removed in 2003. For the last three years drs have been constantly testing my thyroid.... Recently a trip to the gyno last week they did it again and called last Friday and said it was abnormal and I have to come back for more tests. I have been tested by my regular doc and my Rheummy, too. I think that any doctor can test for this - I would ask your gynoc. as they can test for hormone stuff to see if your weight issue is due to thyroid. I am wondering now if this is why I have been unable to lose weight since my pregnancy... by the way, in the last two months I have gained 10 pounds and have been fighting to lose it.

I think my T3 was over 170 - whatever that means...

I hope this helps

I am sorry to hear that you are sad. Please give it time. I think

you should wait at least 3 months to see how you are doing before

getting pregnant. why not set a goal of a particular date to start

trying? Then start eating healthy--lots of raw food and exercising

and detoxing. These things can help your thyroid too. I know when

my husband went on the zone diet, his thyroid picked up steam. Is

weight gain your only problem? Are you tired? Have dry skin? hair

loss? You can look up some websites on thyroid symptoms. But if

you feel fine other than weight, I think I would try what I said

above. If you have other symptoms, and they don't get much better

in the next 3 months, you might want to reevaluate. As julie

pointed out, you can have normal thyroid tests and still not be

USING the thyroid hormone correctly that your body is producing.

Thyroid is very very complicated. Ask your doctor for a copy of your

blood work and you can see for yourself. If he didn't do a thyroid

panel, ask for it. Don't just do a tsh, but get free t-3 and t-4 as

well. If any of them are even lowish or highish in the normal

range, that could be a sign of some thyroid dysfunction.

Hang in there. You have done the best thing for your future child

by getting those poison bags out of you. And very soon you will be

able to exercise again also. I would say that if you clean up your

diet and exercise and detox, if your weight drops some, then your

thyroid is probably ok. Good luck

Kathy thank you for answering my post.

I have a questions about what you said, I will copy and paste your

response that confused me here

" As julie

pointed out, you can have normal thyroid tests and still not be

USING the thyroid hormone correctly that your body is producing. "

What does that mean ? I don't understand how your thyroid can be

normal and not working right?

Also what do you mean by detoxing? Can you help me here? What does

this mean specifically? Detoxing HOW? What do you take for that? Does

your Dr Tell you what to do?

Thank you again, I got an appointment with a specilists at UCSF. it

is about 2 hours drive but worth it, they have the best Dr's there in

the Country, I have been referred there by my local Dr, he is a nice

guy.

He knew I was so upset that he wanted me to get a second opinion. By

the way he did say my Thyroid was tested with all my other labs and

were normal ranges. But, he told me that he wants me to be safe and

happy so he thinks going to UCSF is the best way to be sure.

Then I will wait 6 months to start trying to have a baby!
