Guest guest
Hi Jeanne- I was diagnosed with atypical neuropathy about four months ago. The neurologists called it atypical because there was no underlying cause that was identifiable (i.e. no lupus, lyme disease, HIV, thyroid disease, alcoholism, etc.) and the symptoms of the neuropathy did not match with any one cause that they were familiar with. I had my implants for seven years and only started having nerve problems about five months ago. I was explanted three weeks ago. My balance is still off a little but I am not having the spells I was having. My muscle twitching has stopped completely. The numbness in my face and arms is almost completely gone. I had a rash for only one day. It was about two weeks before my explant and it was a solid red rash across my chest. It went away on its own. No other rashes. How are you doing? Are you excited about your explant? Christy
Guest guest
Thank you for your response. Yes, I am excited and worried too. My implants have been in place almost 10 years. I had immediate reconstruction following a bi-lateral mastectomy because of cancer. I was diagnosed with MS but my symptoms are atypical. Since no doctor would link the implants with my symptoms, I started to go online and do my own research. I found this group, as a result.. I have spoken with Pierre Blais, an expert on the connection between systemic disease and implants. I have difficulty walking, now have a brace on my leg and walk with a cane. I now have rashes on my hips, around my ankles and lower legs...I am a mess! I pray that explantation will resolve some of my difficulties. Oh, and by the way, insurance which would pay for implantation because I had cancer will not pay for explantation. I have come up with a saying, BOOBS ARE GREAT, BUT I'D RATHER AMBULATE! Guest guest
Chrsity,. that muscle twitching was the 1st thing to go for me as well. Amazing isn't? The numbness and nerve thing took the longest! How are you feeling overall? Love Re: neuropathy, rashes anyone? Hi Jeanne- I was diagnosed with atypical neuropathy about four months ago. Guest guest
Hi - Good to hear from you. Overall I am feeling pretty good. You know...when my symptoms starting getting really bad I kept wondering if it was stress making them worse. It's like the chicken and the egg. I wondered if I was stressed because I was sick or if I was sick because I was stressed. Although I had never had muscle twitching from stress before I have read that it can be caused by that...usually just like an eye twitch or something. But now...I am still recovering from surgery, getting ready for law school finals next week, trying to catch up on a ton of work I missed from being sick, fighting with the insurance company, yada, yada, yada...yet I am not physically sick at all. I feel some stress but am mostly positive about the whole thing. I have not had any muscle twitching. So...it goes to show that stress was not the cause of all the physical symptoms like the doctors kept trying to tell me. It also goes to show that intelligence (i.e. medical degree) is not always synonymous with being wise (i.e. seeing the light about implants). I mean "toxic bags." How are you doing these days? How was your Thanksgiving? I've been reading the neurology articles you've been posting. They are very interesting. Christy
