Beth,

I've had my saline implants for 10 years. My symptoms are a rash on my torso that hasn't gone away in almost a year. I've seen 2 different dermatologists regarding the rash. They all say it looks like some kind of allergic reaction to something. Not knowing (at the time) that this might be a reaction to my implants, I went on an elimination diet, removing all foods, drinks and supplements we suspected I might be allergic. I took hydrocortisone creams as well, nothing made it go away. It would simply disappear in one spot, to just reappear in another.

Also, since I'm 50 years old.a lot of my other symptoms I attributed to my age and entering menopause phase of life (weight gain, achy joints, bloated belly, headaches, fatigue).

I would like the list of doctors in Northern California if you know of any.

Thanks for your communication to me....it's comforting to hear from you and the others!

I've been told if you've had the implants two months or less, there won't be much of a capsule to remove. Any longer than that, and I would seriously consider having them removed. I had my implants 11 months and the capsules were removed along with the implants. It took my surgeon 4 hours to get everything out, as my capsules were thin. With saline implants, you run a risk of bacterial/fungi infection in the capsule, along with the possibility of chemicals from the shell embedded in the capsule. That's why it's so important to have it all removed. There are reports of women who have not had the capsules removed, and they continue to be symptomatic.I started some detox before explant, but it was not that helpful at the time. If you have an infection inside the implant, it is difficult to treat until everything has been removed. I also decided against a lift since my insurance would not cover removal. I look very close to my preimplant shape. I may do a lift later on when my children are much older. What are your symptoms?hugs,Beth> > I am going to talk with the surgeon who placed my implants on Wed, > 12/01/04 about removing my implants.> What does it mean to remove the implants "en bloc?"> What should I explect to look like post removal? I just turned 50 a month ago! I know what you mean about not

knowing whether some symptoms are just caused by menopause. It is

so confusing. I have the achy joints, bloating, fatigue and

headaches also. i was tested and found to have low testosterone and

progesterone and have started on bioidenticals for these ---applied

topically. The progesterone stopped my hot flashes very quickly,

but the other symtoms are the same or worse---especially mood swings

and crying. And I still am not in menopause! You are wise to get

your implants out. I bet that resolves the rash problem! Also,

have you thought of having your hormones tested to see where they

are at? My doctor did the saliva testing and I think that is a good

place to start!
