Guest guest
I'm sorry to say this , but this is my world. By far the worst part I remember (and I remember it all like it was yesterday) were the headaches that nothing short of Dilaudid will touch. I still have them, and they seem to cycle from bad to horrendous. I had about a 6 week reprieve from the horrendous ones from mid-January until early March. Needless to say they are back, again, with a vengeance! Being that I refuse to go anywhere near a " resort " anymore what I do is take 80 mg of Oxycontin, lay down and keep a relatively HUGE icepack on my head. Surprisingly, lights and sound have never affected me when the headaches are really bad. In reality, loud music seems to help....but the wife gets kind of pissed a bit if you " Crank it up " @ 3:00 AM! I would seek out a headache specialist anywhere near your area. I have had over a dozen MRI's, MRA's, CT scans, 5 Spinal taps and countless other tests. All showed nothing. I wound up going to the Jefferson Headache Center (Philadelphia, Pa) and saw Dr. Wm Young (AMAZING MAN) who worked with me until he was able to come up with a firm diagnosis. I have what is termed " New Daily Persistent Headache " ...and that's the good news.... the bad news is that there is no real treatment for it. I had Botox injections into my forehead once and that seemed to help a little, but no insurance will cover that anymore and I don't have $1200.00 laying around. I wish you luck as these headaches get so bad I truly wish I owned a large caliber handgun so I could end my suffering! I've smashed my head off of a cinder block wall as hard as I could until I was physically restrained by my wife & father, as that felt 100% better than the pain from the headache. Yes, they can get THAT extremely bad! Find a Dr. that will work with you as soon as you can. I can't imagine suffering from these constantly without trying to have something done about them. Hopefully they will find something that works for you. They tried every single kind of medication known to man on me, and all that did was cost me a bunch of money that I really wish I still had. They had me on everything from Migraine meds to anti-depressants to drugs used to treat psychotics. Nothing even phased them. Finally after 2 years or so (and 26 hospitalizations) they gave me Oxycontin (which is no cure mind you, it just reduces the pain a little bit sometimes...not always. Best of luck man, Kirk. > > Hi guys, > > Does anyone know what to do about a flare combined with a killer headache? > The headache is by far the worst symptom. Guest guest
, I get severe headaches and a MRI discovered several lesions. So when I'm in a flare inflammation sets in from head to toe! I have been taking Topamax for the headaches and it has been helping, but stress has been causing the headaches to get worse so I'll have to up the dose. Good luck, Brett Flare w / headache?
