Here is an alarming and very sad report on HIV from my old homeland:

HIV in young black South African women

(ABC News Online 04/07/02)

http://www.abc.net.au

A conference on reproductive health being held in Brisbane, Australia, heard

that almost half of black South African women aged 15 to 25 are HIV positive.

Professor Wim Sturm, from the University of Natal, has been researching the

country's high HIV infection rate and how the epidemic is affecting other

sexually-transmitted diseases. He says that while in general the chances of

contracting HIV are low - around 1 in 100 - he has found that the risk of

infection increases greatly if either participant has any other

sexually-transmitted disease.
