I don't know anything about the metal posts. I have had two root canals and I never really thought of it before. The last one I had was from an abscess in my cheek. I ended up having surgery for it and they filled the tooth in from the top.

What is odd is that about two weeks later I was reading all about implants because I was really sick and I came across an FAQ on one website. It said that if you have any kind of implants to make sure you tell your dentist everytime you go in for anything. I thought that was strange and nobody ever told me it was relevant to inform my dentist.

If you find out what the connection is please let me know. Thanks!

Christy,

I don't understand the dynamics of it, but apparently

having dental work done can cause bacteria to be

carried by the blood stream to the heart where the end

result can be MVP . . . Mitral Valve Prolapse

(Hopefully I'm spelling all it right.) As I understand

it, having implants causes us to be immune suppressed

and less able to fight off this type of bacterial

infection.

A male friend, who had extensive dental work, because

of a congential deformity, developed inflammation of

the heart and subsequently lost his life as a result.

If I remember right, he wasn't given antibiotics until

it was too late.

Dearest Christy:

Please be very careful when it comes to dental work. I have some

information on all this, but I'm not sure where it is. We have a friend who

is an oral pathologist. We could get his opinion if you like. He is very

careful with me because he has the report that shows that I have MVP. He

always puts me on antibiotics the day before my cleanings.

Much love..........Lea

If medical community does not recognize that implants (silicone or saline) produce any symptoms or make women sick, I seriously doubt that the dental community will recognize it. I have never told my dentist that I had implants and if it was that important or relevant, I would think that they would ask you when they give you the questionnaire to fill up.

I had a lot of mercury fillings replaced. They were very old and I believe they were leaking. I did not want a post (another metal implant in my system), so I tried to tell the dentist that I did not need a post and he told me it wasn't an option. Finally, he put in a porcelain post.

,

I agree with your post. What is weird is that I know my mother, who

has knee implants (and is very sick from them as well) was cautioned

about always getting on antibiotics when she has her teeth cleaned

or any other dental work. Apparently they are good at advising other

implanted people about getting on the antibiotics, but I guess when

it comes to breast implants they have brain farts about it.

I was really glad, and intrigued, to hear that you were able to get

a porcelain post! I was under the impression that all dental

implants installed in the bone was with metal only. So far,

thankfully, I've never had a root canal, crown, bridge or any other

major dental work, but have always wondered, what am I going to do

if I ever need one? I would absolutely refuse to have any metal

implanted into the bone in my jaws. Knowing that porcelain is an

option gives me great relief!

Thanks for sharing!
