I had implants put in 5 1/2 years ago. Last year I had one of them

rupture and then had it replaced. Then about three weeks ago I had

the other one go. This time I decided to have them removed and only

came across all the problems they can cause after researching for

this upcoming explantation. I was thinking I would need a lift (can

already tell this from the deflated breast) and when I asked my Dr.,

who is the instructor for plastic surgery at the University of

Minnesota and has excellent credentials, said that first of all he

only planned to remove the lower portion of the capsule because of

risk of beeding and recovery and that I would have to wait till I

recover (about 4 months) from explant surgery before persuing a lift

(which is out of the question to take the time and money to do it

later). He said he was not going to use drains either. So now after

reading everything on this board about all of this I am very

concerned and frustrated. I was a 34B before implants and 36D

after/placed under the muscle. I am not sure what to do now, the

surgery is scheduled, payment is made (by me) and I have the time off

work so am not sure what to do. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Kathy

PS I don't know how relevant this is but I haven't been the same

ever since I have had them put in. Gained over 30 pounds and could

not lose it no matter what I tried. Went to Dr.s many times for

ailments...back pain...elbow pain...extreme fatigue. Finally one of

the Drs. started me on thyroid medication cause I was borderline

thinking that may help me feel better. Hasn't yet. Hoping after

reading all this that I will see some improvement when implants are

removed.
