Guest guest
I didn’t have much luck with all 4 that I saw. I would recommend a DO doc. Like one with A MD and a DO, they are much more open into looking deeper into wellness issues, such as thyroid and have a better track record of treating your thyroid more properly. Stacie, I will send you a link on this common question. Love Re: Just wanted to let you know...>>>>> -> Pam> I am so sorry to hear about your puppy. Guest guest
Hi Stacie -- It takes some doing to find out who is a GOOD endocrinologist in your city. If you can do so, it would be worth checking out. I have been seeing endos all of my adult life and there are a lot of turkeys around. Good luck in your search. Guest guest
My thyroid area aches, as does my Mom's, and it's from us having Hashimoto's Disease. The thyroid area always feels swollen, has lumps, knots, sometimes goiter, and is always achy and sore. (Mine had done it since I got implants around age 22, so I've had it almost 10 years... then it started happening to my Mom recently at age 63, so we knew what it was right away and she went to the endocrinologist and got tested and diagnosed. I think the implants triggered mine very early.) We both also share a symptom of some type of pressure that runs to the ears and makes your ears feel like they're going to bust. My Mom's is worse when she drives, and for some reason she also can't get near the ocean! It makes her so dizzy, and makes this pressure in her ears so severe --- I know how odd that sounds, but they've gone to the beach at least 10-12 times per year for 20 years and this didn't start until she got Hashimoto's Disease! She can go to the beach, just not on the beach. Does anyone else have the ear pressure with it? I've never read it to be a symptom, but I've told my doctor about the pressure (as has she with hers), and they always said it's probably from all the tenderness and inflammation in the throat/thyroid area. My Mom's seems to much worse than mine, or it bothers her more because she's used to being healthy, so that it worries me. She's seen an ENT/otolaryngologist, as well as endocrinologist. I have brain pressure, and ear pressure for so long that it could really be caused by anything neurological I have. It worries me that my Mom's could be neurological, but her docs haven't really been concerned about it. If anyone else has this --- please share. Brigite See what's free at AOL.com. Guest guest
Lynn, Aspirin does not fix thyroid problems, that is lame! There is a better answer...you need to see a doctor who understands thyroid issues, and one who understands thyroid testing does not just test for TSH. It tests TSH, T4 T3, Free T3, Free T4, there is also something called Reverse T3, and then there are the antibody tests....and it is hard to find someone who truly understands all of these! You would need to see an endocrinologist, and you can look at this link to help you find a top thyroid doctor: http://thyroid.about.com/cs/doctors/a/topdocs.htm or this link to help you find a doctor who prescribes Armour (they generally understand more about using this valuable thyroid med): http://www.armourthyroid.com/locate.html Pattyspinkscl <spinkscl@...> wrote: I think I may look for an endocrinologist in my area to get a better idea of why my thyroid aches at night. Guest guest
I know what you mean, I am afraid to go to them but I am so sick of my primary doctor telling me that I am close to hypo but not there yet... take aspirin and come back for another panel in 6 weeks. I have all my thyroid panel numbers, TPO and two ANA levels. So, I feel good that at least I have the basics done and now it is just treatment. We will have to see. There are only two in the area that I live, so it will probably take me months to get in. Please let me know what you find out from Dr. Kolb. Guest guest
Bridgite, I do not have the ear pressure, and I am so sorry to hear your mom is suffering. I am curious what the two of you do for relief when your thyroid inflames? Mine has been horribly inflammed for the last few days and any words of advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much, Lynn > > > > My thyroid area aches, as does my Mom's, and it's from us having Hashimoto's > Disease. Guest guest
I agree Patty!!! Lame, lame, lame!!! That is why I am trying to find somebody who knows what the heck they are doing. There is really only 1 endocrinologist that is close. I went to that site and there are two internal med doctors listed. Do you think an endo or internal med doctor is better? Or does it really matter? Thanks so much for the advice!! I am so lost and sick of... " take aspirin and wait 6 weeks. " I am in so much pain every night. Guest guest
Lynn, There are some holistic doctors in Boulder, Dr. Roundtree is one. I would go for someone who is holistic who really believes in trying to find the cause instead of treating the symptoms. Lynda At 09:45 PM 4/30/2007, you wrote: >I agree Patty!!! Lame, lame, lame!!! Guest guest
Hi Lynn, I think an endo would be better due to the adrenal issues that I think you should be concerned about as well, but it all depends on their openmindedness or not. An Internal med doc can be good for treatment too, if they are the kind that listen to their patients. You might have to just try these docs out one at a time and see if you click with one of them.
