Subject: [] Trusting God

Trusting God June 4 from The Language of Letting Go by Melody Beattie

A married couple, friends of mine, decided to make some changes in their living situation. They had always lived in the city, and now they decided they wanted to liv in the country, on a lake.

They found a small, lake home. It wasn't the house of their dreams, but when they sold their city home, they would havemoney to remodel it. They had saved some money, so they moved into their lake home before selling their city home.

One year passed, and the city home didn't sell. My friends went throug many changes during this time. They had times of patience and impatience. Som days they trusted God; other days they couldn't figure out why God was mainkin ghtem wait so long, why God wouldn't let them move forward with their plan. The doors just wouldn't swing wide open.

One day, a neighbor came to visit my friends. His home on the lake was my friends' dream home - everything they wanted, plus more. The first time my friends saw this house, they admiredit, wishing they could have a home just like it, but then they forgot about the idea. They didn't believe it could ever be possible.

The reason the neighbor came to visit my friends was that he and his wife had decided to move. He offered my fiends the first option to purchase his home.

My friends accepted his offer, and signed a purchase agreement. Withing two months, they soold their city home and their small but adequate lakehome. A short time later, they moved intothe home of their dreams.

Sometimes, we expereince times of frusterations in our life. We believe we'r e on track, trusing God and ourselves, yet things don't work out. We have false starts and stops. The door refuses to swing wide open.

We may wonder if God has abandoned us, or doesn't care. We may not understand where we're going, or what our direction is.

Then one day we see: the reason we didn't get what we wanted was becaue God had something much better planned for us.

Today, I will practice patience. I will ask, and trust, my Higher Power to send me His best.

I have to comment here, it's ironic actually. I read this with protest (it's too long so I figured I'd skim through it) Then I decided since there was positive feedback from my other post that I should type todays out. I had it all typed up just making a few adjustments and I deleted it!! the page was blank. Talk about patience!! There are some rough waters that I'm dealing with and I too need to remember to be patient. Patience is one of the things I struggle with most, I'm very impatient. I'm also quick to feel abandoned by God when I know in my heart he's the one giving me the strength to deal with the day (even when it's a bad one) he's the set of footprints in the sand-he's carrying me right now because I cannot walk on my own. All I ca say is how ironic!! Thank you all for being my spiritual family, it means more than you know.

Love, Light & Blessings!

Hi ....... I can appreciate the whole patience thing, because

it is something that I have also struggled with.... I have made some

very impulsive choices in my life, because I didn't want to have

patience. We need to slow down, and wait it out. I have had so many

disappointments, and I tried to follow a path, and when I didn't have

results quickly enough, I abandoned it, and went on to something

else. I have changed so much, and I feel meditation helps. I had

problems with that too, and could'nt seem to focus, but I stayed with

it, and now I feel so much more relaxed, and able to tap into my

higher power! It's great to connect with such loving souls here...

Blessings....
