Guest guest
Hi I am hoping that I can get information from someone that has been through this before. I woke up sunday morning to a right ruptured saline implant and have been devestated. I have never had this happen before. I had my first surgery in 1985, then again in 1991 because they had capsulated contracture, and again in 1999 because I had the double lumen (surgitek) with the silicone in the middle and had gotten sick. They replaced them with these Mentor saline implants that they claim contains no silicone. My warranty (5yr) is up therefore I now have to come up with $1000 and cant even have the surgery until Dec 29. I am very concerned due to all that I have read on the internet regarding bacteria, etc that grows once the implant ruptures and the saline leaks out into the body. The doctor says not to worry, but I am also hearing contradictory info and am being told to get them removed ASAP. I am also being informed that the saline implants only last 3-4 years, etc and that I should get a 10 yr warranty from mentor. I called the plastic surgeon today because I am still having pain in the breast that deflated.....They called in an antibiotic but I believe they are minimizing the situation. This will be my FOURTH surgery since 85'. I would appreciate any info that can help me and/or my situation. Also, does anyone know the legal standpoint on these implants or know anyone to get in touch with in Texas????? Thanks to all, D.Myers
