Guest guest
Does anyone here seem to have as much trouble with money as I do? No matter what I do I just can't seem to get ahead of the gamel I made a decent salary when I was working, but now that I'm not working and it's just me by myself supporting myself, it's a lot harder. So much goes out each month to doctors, hospitals and health ihsurance cost. Plust all the co-pays on my gazillions of medications. It's downright depressing. I'm amazed that I was even able to get myself a new computer. (I don't consider it a luxury: I need this website for contact with you guys and now I'm signed up for the chats.) I just con't figure it out. I know that sounds dumb, but it just goes so fast. I end up at the end of each month with barely enough to buy food. I try to remind myself of all the good things I do have like: a roof over my head, two wonderful pets (Tallulah the cat and Giogino the dog) clothes, food, cable tv, etc. I've tried to pare down, but I don't consider my cable tv and computer cable as a luxury. Sometimes cable tv just seems to save my life - - - I'll watch just stupid stuff when I'm really hurting and it seems to help - - - don't have to think. Sometimes it just gets to me when I realize that I wouldn't be in such a financial mess if I didn't have this crazy mind-blowing illness. Just want to know if anyone else goes through this with tough times financially. Much lolve and good thoughts, Welynda
Guest guest
Welynda, have you looked into a Medi-Gap policy? What it does is eliminate your co-pays and co-insurance. The down side is that it costs more and you'll still need a separate prescription plan. The good side is that in my case the $89.00 outlaid up front each month is far cheaper than what I would spend on co-pays & co-insurance! I am willing to bet that this insurance arrangement has saved me over $3000.00 over the last 24 months. I also finally applied for prescription assistance (my scripts run around $700.00/month) and received that, and that has made life a bit more tolerable. Seek out whatever you can, no one can fault you for it. I don't know if you own your home or not or if your state has property taxes like (the greed mongers here) in Pa, but if you own apply for an assessment reduction. I intend to now that they have re-assessed us, I just need help filling out the " book " of forms they want filled out. I was going to apply 3 years ago, but didn't understand the damn paperwork and threw it in the trash. I have no choice now, I need the reduction. Hope this gives you an idea or two.
