Hi group!

Just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself.  My name is and I

recently was diagnosed with Still's a little over two weeks ago.  The fevers

started Nov 17th and I was reaching 104 degrees at least 4-5 times a day.  Had a

visit to the ER and several visits to my normal doc without any luck.  My

regular doctor thought I might have had something called HSP virus.  My mom,

being a nurse, looked it up online and thought the best doctor to see for this

kind of virus was a rheumatologist, luckily for me!  Within 20 minutes of

meeting my doctor and some basic tests she informed me that I had one of two

things, either lupus or something called Still's disease.  Two weeks later I got

my test results back and like the normal still's blood work I was negative for

lupus and RA, but had the high ferratine level along with the other indicators.

I feel lucky being diagnosed so fast and getting it under control before it had

the opportunity to do

much damage.  I have since started once weekly 50mg of Enbrel injections and

i'm still on 15 mg of prednisone (i hate the way it makes me feel sometimes).

Before being diagnosed I was a college athlete and actually pitched in the

Women's College World Series of softball.  I graduated last year and I'm now a

CPA in Chicago.  I still try to get in 3-4 work outs a week, but have been

forced to shy away from the running because my knees have been the worst part by

far of being diagnosed with Still's.

Well that's a little more about me, I look forward to the discussions and the

information exchange that we can all benefit from on this website.  I hope

everyone is having a good day.

,   Welcome to our family,  Sorry you had to become a member!  I hope you

find this group of people the most caring, loving and informative bunch, as I

have, since being diagnosed in August this year.  I, too, was diagnosed very

quickly and escaped without major damage to my joints.  I also think (at least,

right now) I have a milder version of this without a lot of the other major

things alot of other people suffer from.  I'm hoping it stays that way!

I'm 46, married with one 22 yr old daughter, live in Pinehurst, NC and foster

kittens.  How about you?

Hoping you have a painfree day!

Hugs,

Sue
