To all Pennsylvania Parents,

I just received a call from my state representative, who is one of the sponsors

of HB #593. He said that my call was the first call that he received in

opposition to this bill. He has received 50 calls from constituents that are

thanking him for sponsoring and voting for this bill. I explained how it scares

me, and other parents like me, to think that we (frequently single moms) are

being put in such jeopardy. He commented that we should be scared, because

there is overwhelming support for this bill throughout the state. This bill is

currently in the PA Senate Education Committee (as of 12/13/01).

Mr. Bunt asked me to write down my concerns about this bill as it pertains to

special education students and email the information to him. He promised to

speak with Sen. Rhoades, the chairman of the Senate Education Committee to

see what safeguards could be put in place for kids like ours.

As I said to you all last week, if you don't do something about it now, it will

soon be too late. It is imperative that you contact your state representative

and your state senator BY PHONE AND IN WRITING and let them know your feelings

on this bill.

http://www2.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/findyourlegislator/find.cfm where you can

search by county. WE ARE IN THE MINORITY ON THIS BILL. Please do your part to

insure that there are safeguards in it to protect our children and us parents as

well. I would suggest that you copy Sen. Rhoads and every committee member with

what ever you send to your representative and senator.
