Kimbrel Ave , Panama City, FL 32404 Phone: Organization Description The International Still's Disease Foundation is an established non profit organization dedicated to bringing awareness, support and information to the public , families and it's group members about Adult Onset Still's Disease. An adult onset of systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. We use primarily online support to accomplish our work. Description of Nominee's Volunteer Work Overview of Nominee's Volunteer Service I volunteer my life to my group of fellow Still's disease sufferers, their friends, families and anyone who wants to have information. I do that by answering any and all emails sent to me with inquiries, by moderating and posting to our support group. I am a friend to those that want one. I send cards of frienship, get well and sympathies on a daily basis. I generated a fundraising program for the foundation. I assist the president in councel and carrying out directives for the foundation needs. I plan, organize and facilitate each year's annual conference. I send out brochures and keep a record and address inventory and updated files for over 500 group members. I love this organization and try and give my time, my life and my well time wholehertedly. I went over 20 years without knowing anyone with Still's disease and my work is to help others that have it and to bring general public awareness to this disease for future research and development for cures. Community Needs and Solutions On a daily basis I monitor the support group web site to welcome new members with personal messages. I assist in on line directions to doctors, medical services, web pages and conference agenda planning, scheduling each year. I assist in our International web page development and updating and conferr with the president and treasurer in all decisions for the foundation needs. I work with designers for t-shirt sales, pack and ship, handle all orders and send out personal cards and gifts to members that need additional wellness support and spiritual uplifting. I post comments as well to the support group on a daily basis to share my 30 years of experiences with this disease and answer all persnal emails, night and day to any and all who need me. I also work as moderator and participate in another social group for members and friends with Still's disease in which I post fun things such as free web products, art projects, photos, etc. If something is needed, I try to do it. Impact My impact on this group is to share my love of others. My understanding of pain and a long suffering chronic illness but also of the successes in life and acomplishments that can be met in spite of this disease. I volunteer because I love people and especially those that come to us as family. I treat others as family and as I would in need. I hope my impact is strong because others have been to me as well, they fullfil my life and purpose in it. Innovation When I first joined the support group there was a need for funding so I volunteered to hold a gift drive every few months to raise funds for the foundation. I agreed to supply gifts for the fundraiser and give out tickets for donations and free tickets to anyone who asked that was unable to donate. This started our ability to have our account grow in small leaps and at our annual conference by leaps for us. Now others donate gifts as well as myself and give freely of homemade, purchased items. ____________________________________________________________ Planning for retirement?
