Hi Cheryl,

Good luck with the school camp. Sounds like you are going very prepared with

options already in place. That is certainly the best thing to do when you have

an autistic child. Back ups are ALWAYS needed. And you are right, if its too

much for your daughter, you can always go someplace else.

Some people have a hard time choosing their battles. I used to wrack my brain

over the 'what ifs' with my daughter. Enrolling her in things that didn't suit

her, not thoroughly investigating whether or not the teachers of the activity or

class ever dealt with special needs children, etc. etc. Many times I'd leave an

activity with her in my arms screaming/melting down, and me in tears. Now I

know better. I recently signed my daughter up for a girls group at church, even

though I really felt the starting time was too late for my daughter, I wanted to

give it a try. I took her to the first meeting last Wednesday. My daughter had

a major meltdown because she didn't get the 'purple' marker (at the end of the

night, my daughter tends to be impatient and unforgiving). I had to forcibly

get her out of the room because she was NOT leaving without taking that purple

marker from another little girl. I wound up chasing her through the parking lot

because she broke free from my grasp. When I finally got her in the car and

settled, I knew that was the one and only time we'd attend this group. I didn't

cry over it, even though I was a bit saddened, but I knew from the get-go that

the late start time could be an issue...and it was. So, that's it for that. On

to something that may be more enjoyable for her and that won't start too late.

Again, good luck. Let us know how things went.

Re: off topic

lets not please to force any political party on another but simply do of the

teaching on the politics as not want this to go to fight words as that then

closes off the words to teaching and learning on politics. I to so much want to

learn of this and so hope it will be of continue to be of safe to explore of it

and learn of it here. I to be to just want of to learn of others process of how

they learned to vote and how they learn of the candidated and the the views on

various issues not want of negative words on any one person or party, unless it

is of somethings that is of great concern such as the fears of Obama lacking

miliary experience and or lack of over all govermental/political experiences and

or of the same with sara and things of this. I to want to be fo to really learn

of this and not want of to cause issues. each time it causes of issues it

prevents of me to learn in a safe mode. it just closes off the words and then it

leaves me feeling more frustrated and not ever at a place of really learning. I

to be fo want to learn of how to be of a a responsible voter person and learn of

the process and things people do to make of a good responsible person to this.
