Dental Nightmare..somewhat OT & Disgruntled

Hi everyone,

 

I have been lurking for a while and just trying to get ready for the holidays. 

I had to tell you what happened to me yesterday though.  I had a root canal &

crown on a lower molar that was hurting and I went to my dentist only to

discover that the tooth had to come out and he wouldn't do it.  He wanted it out

yesterday, though, so he found an oral surgeon (DDS, MD) about 45 miles away

that would do it.  I knew with my insurance it would cost at least 150 more if I

let them put me under general anesthesia, so I thought I could be tuff and just

get the local.  HOLY SH & ^ ...this was the worst decision I have ever made.  I

consider myself pretty strong, but I was in tears and gagging, sweating, crying,

choking while one assistant blotted the sweat off me and the other held my

hand.  Funny I just noticed that hand is bruised.  I nearly ripped the arms of

that damned chair, folks.  I begged for him to stop and put me under, but

because I had

thought I would be fine without anesthesia, I had snacked on some fries on the

way there.  Anyone who has been put to sleep knows you can't have food for like

12 hours prior.  My stupid french fries made me have to endure this Hell.  He

said he couldn't leave the bone and roots (the roots shattered and he was having

to pick them out a piece at a time) overnight until the food was out of my

stomach.  He said that would be unbearable to go all night and he had to

continue, so I went thru the worst dental nightmare I have ever been through.  I

would have given him $500 to put me under at that point.  I just needed the pain

to stop.  I was still bawling when he left the room.  Today my jaw looks like I

have been in a bar fight, I have some stitches, but at least I'm out of there. 

I think I pulled something in my back from arching in the chair everytime he hit

a nerve. What a horrible deal.  Thanks for letting me whine.  I have to get

another

ice pack now.

 

Stay Healthy and Stay away from DENTISTS (if you are a dentist or love a

dentist, accept my apology now and don't write to me...frankly I don't wanna

hear it right now)

What an ordeal for you at the dentist, I have some similar experiences but

nothing like the agony you have been through. I hope you have not damaged

your back as well. Have you tried tying your tooth to the door knob and

slamming the door (my funny sense of humour). Also I hope you enjoyed the

fries !!!

Joking aside, I do hope you are recovering from this onslaught.

 man o man been there done that and hate to here so have you!. I do want to ask

did they offer you with the Novocaine and Gas? I have found it helps some but

only if they give you the right amount. I also had to have two pulled your way

in an emergency . Both shattered big time and even with the gas I could hear

every thing they did . now the last time I had 7 pulled they did not put me

fully under at all but just to that point and eating did not matter. I fell

asleep just like fully under but with out the problems because i eat and when I

woke up it was done . I remembered nothing but man I was sore and a hurting baby

LOL now i gots me new choppers so I can at lest eat real food and not baby food

only as that is about were i was . now i have to get some teeth on my left side

so I can crew on that side then all good to go. but let me tell you the first

time eating corn on the cob in years or biting into an apple man what a treat

they were simply some

thing i had not done in like over ten years. yes it can be done with false

teeth but i will say I still cut my apples up when i can but it is nice knowing

I can bit them. but warning here DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT eat a brito if your

teeth are lose or you may end up like i did at taco bell . eating a brito

supreme my dang false teeth came out with the thing because I forgot to glue

them in LOL but with out them I am not even a good redneck as I can not even lie

threw my tooth! LOL
