Guest guest
This is baffling, but one question came to mind: Are you sure it is a cold? Why do you think this is a typical rhinovirus? Not being sarcastic, but serious. What makes you think that this " common cold " is not a symptom of the seizures instead of the other way around? How often does he have the colds? My daughter is 9 and she is actually pretty healthy and gets one a year, sometimes 2. If your child is getting what you consider to be an abnormal number of colds in a year, maybe you have a symptom of an oncoming series of GM seizures. This could also be significant in his treatment. I don't want to get into his medical history online, because he deserves privacy, but it would be a good idea to run a baseline EEG and then run one when you see a " cold " come on. By the way, I am not a real doctor, just a confused one. Jeff Cunningham, DC www.zoesplaceclinic.com , TX Seizures and viral infection -- the common cold... Hey you real doc's on this list! LOL - real doc's meaning those that actually research causes and not just treat symptoms... My son's grand-mal seizures are triggered each time he gets a cold. He doesn't get them often - but when he does, he always has Grand-mal seizures. Can anyone explain the mechanism of that? What I might do when I notice a cold coming on to possibly trigger the seizures? It has to be more than a coincidence. I chart his seizures, and for the last couple years, he has only had them when he has had the typical runny, goopy nose thing going on. No fever, no nothing. Just a cold -then boom - seizures. Then as quickly as the cold and seizures come on - they stop. The first time 4 years though, the seizures lasted 9 months -- but started with him having a cold. We had done a viral panel at that time, and it came back high for EBV and HHV6. Anyway -- wondering what I might do naturally, if there is anything... I noticed his nose running yesterday, and really goopy this morning, then BOOM, seizures today..... No fever, no other symptoms. No diarrhea, -- just the common cold. Which is viral I believe -- so what sort of natural treatment or something works like an anti-viral? M. No one should live in one. We cannot debate who should get an inclusive education. Everyone should. We cannot determine who does and who does not get the right to make their own choices and forge their own futures. All must. "
