Guest guest
Elly honey, My sisters and I are very different, much like your kids. I will say Mom is my best friend and we do talk most days, at least once though there are days we chat more frequently. Mostly I call to see how she's doing but there are times I'll call to talk about something or Rubin has done or are doing. My sisters, however, are another story. Sharon lives in California and only calls Mom, dutifully, once a week. She feels that's all thats required of her and being she doesn't " like " Mom won't give her much information about her life or that of her daughter, Jolie. Sharon is not someone I'd befriend if she weren't my sister. Robin on the other hand, is very needy of Mom and is also Mom's caregiver. She lives fairly near by (1 1/2 hour drive) and stays with Mom for a few days before she heads back to her own apartment. Robin and I happen to be very close, though she's not exactly mentally balanced (then again who is?). My point here is simple. Once a Mom, always a Mom. Not that I wish this on Rubin but his growing up and leaving home will most likely be very difficult for me. Of course I want him to be his own person, independent of us and self assured but I have to admit, even now, I miss that little boy that used to give me hugs and kisses. Take care and be well.
