Hi Everyone

We had our meeting last week with the School District. It went pretty ok, I

guess. They agreed to keep his SEIT (spec. ed. teacher) over the summer 3 x

week 60 minutes and OT 2 x week 1/2 hour. As for kindergarten, the phys. said

that he saw a " normal " little boy. But, he talked to his nursery school teacher

and she said he has a " focusing " problem, the SEIT who was at the meeting said

he had a " focusing " problem and then he called his pre-k teacher (where he went

in the district 2 x wk 1.5 hrs per day). She told psych that was

disruptive, loud, figity (sp?) and had trouble " focusing " . I then brought

introduced the report from our neurologist who " knows " for more than 1/2

hour! and showed the panel. Neurologist has dx with OCD, has put him on

Celexa and sees " asberger like " symptoms as well as " autistic like " features.

Well, the panel said that this was nothing " educational " and that they could not

make a decision. They suggested that we put him in a regular kindergarten in

Sept. with a " structured " teacher and put him on a behavior modification

program.

I suggested at this time that we wait to have 's full and complete

evaluation from neurologist and psychologist. We met with the psycho. on

Wednesday and he feels after all of the testing that has OCD, ADHD,

should be watched for Asperger's and watched very closely for Tourettes (because

he does have some minor ticks).

Well, if I have him " labeled " they will give him an aid or assistant in the

class, this is what head of Sp. Ed said to us. Medicine has kicked in, we see

the difference! This OCD thinking is better, and we are starting CBT next Wed.

We will meet with the School District Panel in July again.

Any suggestions? I'm not really sure what to do.

Also, if he is " labeled " will this stay with him?

Thanks everyone! Ray
