Guest guest
Hi Anne, just wanted to mention that " 3 hours meltdown " sounds familiar! Went thru episodes like that with , anywhere from 1- 3 hrs. And I still remember a Saturday a.m. 4 hr episode! And believe me, if we hadn't lucked out with the inositol working for him, I'd have had him on prescription meds definitely! Hang in there, relief WILL come - it's just stressful for all and definitely TIRING for OCDer & family until you begin/get treatment - meds, CBT, etc. Then Sullivan will be able to fight back better. And there's been times I've posted here venting that I felt wasn't TRYING to fight back, at least not as hard as I felt he should be, and that I felt he'd sort of " settled " into having OCD since it had gotten so much milder. doesn't say anything at all about what he goes thru, NEVER talks about OCD. And then one day as I was " nagging " again about trying and saw the tears start, I realized he is CONSTANTLY fighting the battle, that a lot of it is internal and I just wasn't " seeing " it because I was still watching the " physical " rituals/compulsions - that actually had declined in amount of time spent, they just were still " there " and I was wanting them to disappear altogether. Anyway, just wanted to mention this though Sullivan is more verbal about her OCD than . > Hi everyone, > Thank you as always for taking the time to help with Sullivan. I am going to wait until Wednesday and if the " healer " my husband has set Sullivan up with doesn't " cure " her, (that seems so terribly persimistic, and the truth is I am willing to try anything) or the homeopath doesn't have a very convincing treatment, I've decided to start Sullivan on 25mg of Zoloft. Maybe we'll be lucky and see what happens in 6 months. By the way, how long before we should start expecting changes? > She had a big meltdown last night that lasted over 3 hours and I know, none of us can go through that again. The suffering sure trickles down through the whole family. > > As for " clinging " to this group, Sullivan calls OCD, the obnoxious, clinging dufus! I thought that was pretty accurate. > We are laying really low this weekend and appreciating all the un- OCD moments. > Lots of love to all of you. > Anne
Guest guest
I really think that for most severe cases of OCD, medicine needs to be part of the formula for recovery. Every time has gone off his medication, he has become so depressed that the last time (after over six months with no meds) he talked suicide and started cutting himself - with broken shards of glass!! With a disorder this severe, medicine can be absolute lifesaver, no matter what the age of the child. But then until you have been there, I don't think any of us knows for certain what we will decide to do! Take care everyone! Jackie

Guest guest
As long as it's okay, I'm fine with it. It's not terrible - but didn't know if it would cause too much loss of potassium...?
