Guest guest
Hi , We've always sent the x-rays to Cree's attention since we were told things directed to Dr. Strum often end up buried on his desk and he doesn't always see them. They usually don't call us to confirm receipt, but I often call to make sure they are received. I also always send with a tracking number so I know who signed for them and when, in case doesn't have them and needs to research there. I have never been successful in speaking with Dr. Strum over the phone. There have been two times that I tried- leaving messages directly for him, speaking with , etc. Both times it took weeks and I never actually got to speak with him directly. passed along my question to Dr. Strum and then called me back with the answer. Not ideal- but considering how busy he is with surgeries and follow up appts, I was at least glad to get an answer. I would suggest that you speak with . She is the center of his world basically, and the key person in Chicago Shriners if you are trying to get anything done. If you have her on your side, you are set! She was out last week and just getting caught up this week (I spoke with her yesterday). Good luck! Tina -------------- Original message -------------- Dr. Sturm told us that we could get Dylan's 4 week follow-up in-cast x-rays done locally and mail them up, since we live in Florida and travel to Chicago for the casting. I sent them up right before the holidays and have not heard back from Dr. Sturm yet. I think I have heard that a few of you also send your follow-up x-rays in. Do you usually hear back from Dr. Sturm or his nurse? I left a message with his nurse, , yesterday but have not heard back. I actually was hoping to ask the doctor a few questions though. Should I just wait to talk to and tell her I wish to speak with Dr. Sturm or should I leave a message for Dr. Sturm directly? __________________________________________________________ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Guest guest
Thanks, Tina. D'oh...I wish I had done the signed receipt, but didn't think about it. I addressed it to his attention. I will just wait for 's call I guess. Guest guest
Oh, good - I'm glad to hear 's in the office. We left a message for her last week about whether or not old Petey would order some x-rays for us to do here at our Shriner's. I just want to be sure we get them done - looks like we're getting to about the 4 week point, right, Tina? I'm anxious to see how he's doing in this one and whether we're casting here in a few weeks or can hold out until February. Guest guest
Thanks Sandi, So you are going to have Jack's next cast done in St. Louis? I was wondering how that situation was resolving with Chicago. We are going to continue to skip the mid-point in-cast x-rays (since she has never had a problem with the cast holding the correction- we just end up back at the pre-cast curve when they take it off half the time). We are scheduled for her next casting in Chicago January 29th as same day surgery . It is only 7 weeks since the last one and we have always had them changed out at 8 week intervals. However, I was going to have to go to NY for work early Feb.and asked what she thought- move it up a week or push it out to mid-Feb. I talked with her yesterday and we are confirmed for 1/29. I hope that it was long enough to get some correction since her COBB was unchanged after the last cast. She has started eating better, so we are praying for a growth spurt since they got such great in-cast correction with this one. How is Jack doing? Did you have a great Christmas? I peeked at his blog right before Christmas and your kids pictures for the Christmas cards were adorable!!! What gorgous children. I would have swore those were done in a studio. Guest guest
Not that I know of. I think Dr. S is going to bring Dr. D up from St. Louis to show him how it's done - but he did say that we could do our follow-up x-rays here, so I'm hoping to at least MEET Dr. D in the near future! So far, no major updates on the issue we had. I'm trying to keep it quiet for now and hope it just sort of goes away, yk? We'll see. <sigh> Thank you for your kind comments about the Christmas cards. (And the kids) Jack is doing great - he finally got over the stomach virus (I'm just WAITING for anesthesia to ask about that one!!!) and everyone seems to be doing well around here. We did have a nice Christmas as well. I hope your family had a fantastic holiday season, too. S
