Guest guest
Hi ! I'm in VA too. I live just outside of Richmond. Anyway, I am glad to hear that the orthotist has even heard of casting! That is great. The SC Shriners also does the casting and may be less of a commute for you. But, Dr. Sturm is a good option as well. Also, Dr. D' in Philly does the casting which is also much less of a commute too. Anyway, if you have any questions feel free to email me at noellesmommy@.... Noelle (12-2-01) Ian (8-15-04) casting Hi! My name is ...This is the first time I have posted on here. My daughter, Crystal just turned 4 in Dec. and was diagnosed 9/27/2007 with severe idiopathic scoliosis. She started out with a 64 degree curve. Was braced in October and in 1mo. and 4days of wearing it, her curve went down to 33 degrees. I have read lots about the casting procedure and feel that this is the way to go and so does her orthotist but I am still nervous about it....I am getting ready to complete the application for Shriner's in Chicago...we live in VA but the orthotist highly recommends Dr. Sturm. I would love any advice, helpful hints, etc. that may help! Thanks!
Guest guest
, I forgot to mention Dr. ! How silly of me. He's in Rochester, NY. He used to be at the Erie Shriners. Anyway, he is top notch! The only thing is that you would have to check to see if your insurance would cover it since he is in private practice now. Noelle (12-2-01) Ian (8-15-04) casting Hi! Guest guest
Hi and Welcome! I don't email often but am chiming in to give you hope. My daughter is one of the children who is older and is casted--she just turned 5. Dr. Sturm is great and the fact that she got great correction in her brace bodes well for her chances of success in the cast. We have done both and I honestly think that casting is easier than bracing--it can't come off so there are no arguments. Good luck! ________________________________ From: infantile_scoliosis [mailto:infantile_scoliosis ] On Behalf Of jascbsadh Sent: Sunday, January 06, 2008 11:09 AM To: infantile_scoliosis Subject: casting Hi! Guest guest
Hi , I usually do not post, but I just wanted to mention that if you live in Virginia, the Shriners in Philadelphia does serial casting (Dr. Asghar is your man - he's great). It's not too far of a drive from VA and you won't need to worry about insurance. Good luck! > > , > > I forgot to mention Dr. ! How silly of me. He's in Rochester, NY.
