Guest guest
I wonder why they don't just schedule your next appt while you are there getting the casting done? I would ask them to do that when you go for the next cast. It's usually done by computer, so I can't see why they couldn't set your appt for you while you are there. Noelle (12-2-01) Ian (8-15-04) Chicago Patients Tomorrow we are going to get x-rays locally to send up to Dr. Sturm to see what the curve is inisde the cast. I have been unable to get in touch with Cree for the past week after multiple phone calls. I don't know the address of where I am supposed to send the x-rays to and also I want to go ahead and get Dylan on the schedule for his next cast. Dr. Sturm indicated before he would want to do it about 2 months after the first cast. I called the new scheduling lady last week and she said she didn't have any info on him, so to call and have her get him in the queue for scheduling. Anybody have any advice on how to get someone up there to call me back? Also, when do you guys usually schedule your next cast...do they usually wait until the clinical follow up for the current cast? __________________________________________________________ Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
-- We were casted by Dr. Sturm and then returned for a 1 month follow up. At that time he told us to keep her in it for 2 more months. They called us about 30 days before the 2 months to set the date. I hope that helps. ________________________________ From: infantile_scoliosis [mailto:infantile_scoliosis ] On Behalf Of Dolley Sent: Thursday, December 13, 2007 9:52 AM To: infantile_scoliosis Subject: Chicago Patients Tomorrow we are going to get x-rays locally to send up to Dr. Sturm to see what the curve is inisde the cast. Guest guest
I have always tried to schedule Sophia's next casting before we left the hospital from the last casting but have only been able to do so once because we were coordinating out of cast testing at another hospital. I begged them this time to just confirm the date since we are going to continue with not doing mid-point visits or x-rays and just recast every 7-8weeks. It has worked well so far (this is cast #4), and I told them I did not want her to get additional x-rays in between castings since the results would not change when they recast her (even if it showed the cast wasn't holding, they couldn't get her recast any sooner). We have a very strong family history of cancer (both sides, all types) so I am especially concerned of the long term side effects of so much radiation exposure her first year or two of like. I received a call today and thought that it was regarding scheduling, but they just wanted updated shot records and yet another sign off from her pulmonologist that she was OK for casting (in general). We already gave them that documentation a couple months ago- but they have no record of it. Guest guest
Hi , After Max getting casted since Aug, 2006, Shriners Chicago has never scheduled a cast change appointment before his 4-6 follow-up. That's been their procedure. I know Erie does things a lot different. But Erie is also a lot smaller. The quanitity of patients served in smaller cities is much different than those in larger cities. I know their is a very long wait list for the OR and Dr. Sturm makes every effort to get his scoliosis casts scheduled in the appropriate time frame (atleast he has for us). We'll be lucky to have Max's surgery scheduled a full month ahead. Although at times it was inconvenient with last minute scheduling, I can't complain being I'm not paying for Max's medical care.
