Tana, my non-OCD twin has been asking me about it too. The first

night I came home from work that they'd discussed it at school, he

was asking me where his jeans were, wanted to wear them instead of

shorts! He must have brought it up for about the next 3 days. And

then last Friday he was sick with a really bad headache and nausea,

threw up, hated sound/light, etc., crying sick (he's 13). So I took

him to the doc and we decided migraines as he's had them before.

Then a couple days later he asked me what the symptoms of West Nile

Virus were - which sorta match his symptoms, but I made light of it.

HOWEVER, we haven't had a report of it here in our county yet, but

it's just a matter of time as each surrounding county has had more

than one. THEN we'll see what happens. Funny though, I have a

feeling it won't bother (my OCD kid) at all UNTIL he gets a

mosquito bite. Then we'll see!

Hi

My 11 year old had West Nile Alert last week also. He was sure he had

it from

the mosquito bite on his leg. At that time there were no know cases

around us.

Now there are four. He isn't too worried this time around, it seemed to

pass

quickly. ( i think)

Hi, I have been reading the posts concerning West NIle Virus with lots of

interest. In our area of the country, this disease made it's appearance several

years ago. Tommy, of course, had radar for these types of diseases and he was

copletely freaked! He still does not allow his window to be open (even with a

screen in it)while he is sleeping, and mosquito's are about the only insect that

he will allow to be killed! He loves bugs mostly, and can quote tons of bug

facts, including too much on West Nile Virus. I just try to remain calm

whenever a mosquito appears (I secretly share some of the same upset with the

nasty critters, compounded with the fact they can also spread heartworms to my

beloved dog also - even though he is on preventative meds). I also try to

remind the kids that while it is good to keep a safe distance from mosquito's

and not go seeking them out, panicking will only give OCD the upper hand, so we

need to boss it back at the same time we are staying away from mosquito's.

Best wishes, in Southeastern PA
