I stopped them immediately, after realizing t his. Is there any short-cut way to get this swelling down. Yes, I am drinking more water, and am about to go onto my apple cider vinegar and honey fast again, as last year. Is there anything else I can do. My foot won't fit into my shoes! I have been too inactive lately on computor. Will begin walking, and taking asprin again for clots. Rose, thanks you all...

Guest guest
I recalled reading in a booklet by A. Passwater, PhD. 'The New Superantioxidant --- Plus " that a study was done in Italy using Pycnogenol, which yielded positive results with venous congestion in the legs. Here is what Passwater wrote, based on a report from Prof Arcangeli of the Univ. of Florence (June 16, 1989). From page 32 of the booklet: -------------------------- EDEMA " Italian scientists from the University of Florence studied the effect of Pycnogenol on venous congestion in the legs --- leg edema. The study involved 40 subjects consisting of 13 men and 27 women between the ages of 34 and 74, having an average age of 60 years. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups. One group served as the control group and received a placebo supplement . . . The other group received 300 milligrams of Pycnogenol daily for 60 days. All of those taking the Pycnogenol had relief from at least some of the symptoms. There was a decrease in the feeling of heaviness in lower limbs in 11 percent of those receiving Pycnogenol after 30 days, and in 33% after 60 days. The swelling disappeared in 26 percent of those taking the Pycnogenol after 30 days, and in 63 percent after 60 days (circumference measured above the ankle before and after test). Pain in the lower limbs was totally relieved in 38 percent of those taking Pycnogenol after 30 days, and in 67 percent after 60 days. " ------------------------- I presume that these people were not given any additional supplements in order to keep the test " pure. " If you were to take 800 units of vitamin E and 1000 mg of vitamin C simultaneously with the Pycnogenol each day I think your chances of better and faster results would be enhanced. And you might not have to take as much Pycnogenol, which is the most expensive part of this plan. If you are interested and send me your snail mail address privately I will mail you a copy of Passwater's 46-page booklet which was published by Keats Publishing Inc. in New Canaan CT. WARNING --- When you take this bunch of effective oral antioxidants simultaneously --- that work synergistically --- for the first time you may cause a patch of plaque or a clot to break loose. Behind the plaque is gooey stuff that will suddenly thicken your blood. You may then feel tremendous pressure in your head and all over. You must have on hand in the house --- ready to take immediately --- two adult aspirin with three or four ounces of wine. This will thin out your blood in 30 minutes or less and the crisis will be over. You do it only once. Just once gives me a bit of a nose bleed. If you elect to take Pycnogenol with Vitamin C and E, you should discontinue the aspirin while doing this to avoid internal bleeding. Dr. Passwater cites another study that demonstrated that Pycnogenol strengthened the walls of arteries, veins and capillaries. It did this for me --- made a bulging vein in the calf of my right leg disappear in four months. I had the one-inch long bulge for more than ten years. Consequently I believe that Pycnogenol is great for strengthening the walls of veins and arteries. At any rate it certainly worked for me. I suggest that you give Pycnogenol WITH vitamins C and E a six month trial but WITHOUT the daily aspirin. Passwater advocated Pycnogenol INSTEAD of aspirin for blood thinning --- safer but more expensive. And he said it is best taken simultaneously with vitamin E and vitamin C. Donsbach warned years ago that powerful oral antioxidants can cause a breaking loose of a patch of plaque resulting in a sudden thickening of the blood. He therefore advocated intravenous chelation as a start and then switch to oral chelation with oral antioxidants after about ten IV chelation treatments. swollen leg--plus > Sodium, and coffee. Guest guest
In addition to Saul's excellent list, consider taking CoQ10 to strengthen the heart. Guest guest
My step dad gets swollen feet and ankles and he has found that cleavers extract, 10-20 drops a day, works very well for him. Cleavers is an herb that has diuretic qualities. He has used Herb Pharms brand. Hope this helps. Donna swollen leg--plus Sodium, and coffee.
