Guest guest
I am so glad someone asked about this. I was about to post a very similar question this morning. I can reach my hand half way down my son's back and have had to do it on a few occasions to get a cheerio out It is still tight around the hips, but his curve was a little higher up so that had me concerned. His next casting appt. is in early Feb. Re: Should I get another x-ray? Guest guest
I'll second this. Noah's cast gets looser the longer he's in it. In his first cast I remember thinking " there's no way this is working! " It turned out just fine though. I think the plaster is just bound to losten over time due to the amount of movement toddlers do. ~ > > > > Hi Everyone, > > Haley has had her current cast on since December7. Guest guest
IME, in our three, they all loosen like that when they lay down. It's less about the cast and more about the shape of the body in a lying-down position. S
Guest guest
Misty, 's casts always did that too. We never had follow up visits in between casts. His were always super tight at first..........loosens up a bit and then got tight again right before it was time to come off. When will she get her next one? 9 DEGREES!? I guess I missed that or forgot. That is awesome!!! Good luck........and go with your gut. Guest guest
Hi Misty, I often read on this post that the cast loosen up, but 's never have. She is in her fourth cast and each one always gets tighter as the weeks go by. Dr. Khoury applied her first one he did a great job. When is this cast due to come off? and Should I get another x-ray? Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Thanks for your input. Haley is scheduled to get her next cast February 15. I have noticed some of her cast doing this, but I just don't remember her last cast (the one we got correction out of!) doing this! I think I will wait it out a few days, and if it gets ANY looser, I will do an x-ray. This is some what off topic, but I can NOT get this off of my mind, and I know if anyone can understand, it would be this group! Donnie and I are in the process of an international adoption and I was looking at pictures of waiting children on our adoption agencies web site the other day. I came across a little boy 4-5 years old that has been diagnosed with congenital scoliosis. He has severe deformities and it just broke my heart. It made me think how blessed our children are to have the care that they do. Please think of this innocent little child and say a prayer of hope for him! Guest guest
Misty, I totally understand. My husband and I have often discussed actually adopting a child with medical needs. Especially scoliosis, since Moriah was born with it. I don't know if we ever will. The next few years he wants to finish school, then we may have the conversation again. What list was this child on? Congrats to you early for the new addition to your family. I would love to hear what country, etc. Shellie Grant Misty Dennis wrote: Hi Everyone, Thanks for your input. Guest guest
Hi Shellie, The child was on Children's Hope International waiting list. That is the agency that we are using. We are adopting from Kazakhstan and we are in the waiting phase. All of our paperwork has been done we are just waiting for the " phone call " it could be tomorrow or it could be another 8-9 months (we have already been waiting 4 mos and the average wait time for a girl is 10-12 mos from this country.) we requested a girl, but could get there and it be a boy. Which would be fine also! We have to travel to Kazakhstan twice. The first trip being 4-5 weeks, then come home for a month, then back over there for 1 week to pick her up and bring her home. We are so very excited, but so nervous at the same time. I can NOT imagine leaving Haley for that long....lots of different emotions going on...excitement, but guilt also for leaving Haley. Also something I have been worried about from the beginning is Haley's cast change during that time. When they call, we will have MAXIMUM 2 weeks to prepare for travel. I hope it works out to where Haley will not be scheduled for a cast change during that time we're going to be gone. Check out Children's Hope Int website. They have been GREAT! I hope you and your husband will have the conversation again if that is what you want Waiting time for a special needs child is not long AT ALL for most countries. Were you considering domestic or international adoption? Best of luck to your future journey (possibly:)) Misty Shellie Grant wrote: Misty, I totally understand.
