Guest guest
Do you think it's comfort? With such a major change (casting, etc), maybe he's using YOU/nursing as his comfort. I'm not sure what advice to offer...I really hope you figure it out =) and Evan " *\\o/* San *\\o/* " wrote: Jack is refusing food. I don't know what's going on with him - he's never been a very " good " eater. He would eat a bite here and there, but now he just isn't eating solids at all and nursing all the time. To top it off, I know he's dairy sensitive/allergic and suspect now that citrus is a problem. I feel like I can't even GET him to eat things - much less healthy things, you know? I coudl offer him a bowl of ice cream (or nondairy ice cream) or a candy bar and he wouldn't eat it. He's been nursing around the clock for a few weeks - which made me think it might be that his cast is too tight. I don't really know what to do. Do I get some kind of therapist involved at this point? He's almost 18 months. Guest guest
Poor little Jack. Sandi - Have you talked to Dr. Sturm about it? Since 's cast went on last week, his eating habits have changed. He definitely wants to nurse more often (with more frequent naps) (comfort and I think he gets tired more quickly), but he's also a pickier eater! He has also skipped meals, which he never did before. With him, though, he will only eat solid foods and not the cereal-stuff very well. I was able to distract him with a fly-swatter (whatever works...I cleaned it first), and got 1/2 jar of sweet potatoes in him...once I got him on a roll. He is eating turkey burger, sweetened with apple juice...and cheese (provolone) is a big hit...oh and a piece of apple and honey-nut cheeries. But, I can only feed him while he STANDS (food closer to his mouth) and not sits...it's just too uncomfortable. It seems like he has a hard time swallowing b/c the cast is under his chin. Anyway, I doubt if this helps, but personally, I woudln't be surprised is it's the cast too tight around his tummy or even chin....so maybe a question for Dr. Sturm or at least let them know your concern! - wrote: Do you think it's comfort?
