Guest guest
Hi Shellie! I am so glad to see that your child is going to get help at night! Dr. Shockett, our Pulmonary Doctor, said was also amazed at Gabby's episodes at night. She is doing great on Bi-Pap even though at the beginning, she didn't like it much. I totally understand what you said about your daughter living life like nothing was wrong with her breathing! That's my Gabby too! Honor Roll student and all, never had headaches (until the Halo Traction! :-)) But, her left lung was working at 15% capacity! I never knew that! Nobody even suggested we checked that until ish Rite checked! God bless them! She had her spinal surgery last Monday, and we are still at ish Rite. She still recovering, but very satisfied with the results! May your child get better and better every day! Esther If anyone speaks ill of you, Praise them always. If anyone injures you, Serve them nicely. If anyone persecutes you, Help them in all possible ways. You will attain immense strength. You will control anger and pride. You will enjoy peace, poise, and serenity. (Unknown) Moriah sleep study results. Hi all, We visited with the pulmo and got the results. Mo is going to have bi- pap at night to help her breathe more deeply. She chronically breathed shallowly as a baby. When she ended up with the vent we hoped it would " train " her how to breathe better. I think it has during the day, but not while sleeping. Dr. thinks it is due to her heart conditon and also the restrictive nature of the scoliosis. The results showed she has disturbances 23 times an hour! Her brain is alert although she is " asleep " because her Sats are dropping or her CO2 is climbing. Her REM sleep time is 6% when it should be 20- 25%!! We are so glad to be getting her some help so she can rest. I am amazed at how she is functioning despite these numbers. She got nearly straight A's this semester. I told her she will feel like a freight train full of energy once we get her resting well. She'll be on an impirical setting (baseline) until we get back from Texas. Then she'll have another sleep study with the bi-pap on to tweek the level she needs for maximum rest. So continues my merit badge in respiratory therapy!! Guest guest
Esther, Glad to hear you so cheerful from the hospital! That is awesome that things are going well. I'll bet Gabby was glad to get rid of the halo. I will be praying you get to go home soon. Bi-pap is an amazing thing. I think it is fairly non-envasive (compared to a trach!) and so beneficial. Mo used it when she was 4 for a year, but her lungs degenerated because she wasn't having her scoliosis treated properly at the time. I know it will do great things for her once we get her back on it. Let us know how you and Gabby are doing these next few days and weeks. shellie " A. E. R. " wrote: Hi Shellie!
